I visited Fisherman’s Basket for the first time last week. It’s seriously the best tasting food from a chip shop that I’ve had In Suffolk!. My food was cooked to perfection. I had a large jumbo sausage in batter with a regular size portion of chips and I also ordered a mayonnaise. All that for just £5! The meal was really filling. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was fast the lady serving was polite and really friendly. I will definitely be returning. I’m recommending them to friends and family. Highly recommend. See you again soon! :)
11 x OAP cod and chips for residents of Town Green last week. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed, great portions and tastiest fish and chips had by many. Easy to phone order through and it was waiting for me when I arrived. Generously gave us a bottle of vinegar and salt for individuals to apply their own if wanted. We'll definitely be back!
Been coming to this chippy for over a decade, tried the others in Stowmarket and this is the best. However there are new owners, after 3 months they still haven’t sorted themselves out. The fish and chips are still good but communication between the friendly local girls who greet you, take your orders, answer the phone etc and the 2 Turkish guys who are chatting to each other in Turkish and doing the cooking needs work. The last 2 times I’ve been in I have been sat waiting for my food whilst several others come in after me and get served first, the girls are apologetic and the guys smile and say sorry but it’s not good enough.After 3 months they should be organized.
Good fish and chips, poor organization!
We had fish and chips for several of us just before Christmas and one order was missing which was fine as there was still plenty to go around as the portions are so big (and delicious). They put an i.o.u behind the counter and we have now redeemed it. The staff were very apologetic and couldn't have been more helpful. We have tried fish and chips from several places in Stowmarket and these are the best we have tasted. Worth a visit and we will definitely be getting ours from there in the future.
Been a few times now, and generally most food is cooked to order. So although it's a 10-15 minute wait. The food is always fresh and of a high standard. You can phone your order through if you don't want to wait. Best chippy in Stowmarket.
I can only assume you get better service if you order your food first.
All I wanted was sausage and chips -sausage was already done as I heard the lady who was serving ask the man cooking is the food already cooked for an order he said no. This was before I ordered my food. I appreciate orders come first, but after about 15 minutes the lady serving started to put my sausage in box and the man cooking took in out and served 3 other people before me- they had fish etc. It took over 20 minutes to be served for food that was ready to be served. Very disappointing I felt sorry for the young lady as she wanted to serve me but he kept putting me to back of queue. This was going to be Saturday lunchtime treat before Christmas, by the time I had them didn’t enjoy them as felt as I didn’t spend much money the man didn’t care. Very disappointed.
OMG the food is amazing & the presentation is pristine not just your ordinary fish and chip box/ paper. The staff were kind & friendly. Me & my family will be going there every time we want decent fish & chips. Highly recommended 5⭐️
I have been a patron of this chippy for years and saw the change over. Today was the first chance I had to have a chat with the staff. They are extortionately friendly. The food was very good too.
