We visited Cromer today to have chips on the beach and we figured we would try somewhere new, with my partner being partially disabled Fish and Chips @ The Slope fit the bill perfectly as it was on the sea front and meant we didn't need to climb the hill again. They have a 5 hygiene rating and the stall itself was very clean which, when I'm buying chips, is basically all I worry about.
We had sausage and chips, one small and one large. The chips were well cooked, not greasy which is always nice, lightly cooked which is fine for me but could possibly be a bit light for some people. The sausages were basic, nothing to write home about but the batter was crispy and generous without being too much. Portion sizes were fairly generous but fitting for the price which was fairly high £17 and change for our food and two bottles of Fanta.
What's interesting about this chippy however is that they have a seafood stall attached to it selling a range of fresh seaside classics as well as fried noodles cooked with their product. It's a nice touch if someone you're with fancies something different.
They have seating to the side of the premises as well as on the seafront but at 12 on a Friday it was mostly full so expect to sit on the sea wall. The restaurant is only a short walk to the pier however which has ample seating.
The service was fine, the guy behind the till was a little bit surly but ultimately helpful. They don't offer to wrap chips and while this is fine for a large portion or if you're having fish, as they are served in a box, they don't offer the same with a small portion of chips, these come in an open tray. The same man offered me a box to put them in.
I'd recommend giving them a shot, they're in a convenient place and the food is pretty good, I didn't get to try the noodles this time but I plan to next time I'm in Cromer.
First visit today in the cold to this kiosk. Waited roughly 10 mins. Chips were cold, sausage piping hot. Two portions of chips both served Luke warm so won’t bother again.
Our first visit to the shack, long queues at the other (very variable) establishments. We were lucky to find no queue and a short wait, cooked to order on the seafront and a table and chairs for 5. Really nice quality haddock and cod with golden chips. Best price in town with fab views.
Sat at the side on a clean table with a lovely view. Excellent Fish and fair to say Good Value in comparison to others. Very clean, fresh, tasty food. Cheery staff to top the visit. Thank you.
Highly recommended Curry Sauce. One of the best Sauce I've tried so far. Chips was nice and crispy.y kids enjoyed every bite.
Stopped for Scampi and Chips with my wife here Monday afternoon and really enjoyed the food, service was great too 5 * Definitely recommend
Pretty nice when we managed to get there whilst it was open.
Google's opening times might be wrong if you're going outside of tourist season
Well done everyone. Heard you say a couple of new trainees - well, lads you did superbly if you’ve only just started! Well done - very polite and coped very well when busy. Fish and chips were extremely nice. Thank you.
