Lovely little pub, with cosy atmosphere. Best Ham, Egg and chips we’ve had in a long time.Staff very friendly and polite. Food reasonably priced with good selection of beers. Would highly recommend for anyone passing through the area.
Visited here with my husband, 6yr old daughter and 3yr old twins on my husbands birthday whilst we were holidaying at a lodge not far away. We were recommended to go here from the owners of the lodge and it did not disappoint! |Gorgeous, home cooked carvery. Really good value for money and under 4s are free! Really friendly owners/staff. They did their best to make sure we were happy from bringing us cushions for the kids, to checking in with us, friendly chats, nice compliments about the kids! The kids ate really well and clearly enjoyed it! |The kids have never eaten so well, and all enjoyed a pudding too.
Amazing pub, amazing food with huge portions. Dog friendly, I mean proper dog friendly. Our dog had more attention than the kids. Really friendly staff who go above and beyond for you to have a good experience. Couldn't get much better than sitting by a log fire on a cold and foggy day
We popped in for some lunch on the 29th October and were greatest with a warm welcome in this lovely countryside pub. The beer was fantastic, the service second to none and as for the food it was truly amazing . I have been a chef for 20+ years and the steak was perfect and the Stilton sauce was on a different level . I would recommend this pub to everyone of all ages .||Thankyou to the team at the Forest we will be back soon.||Mike and Ana.
We booked a table of 12 on the day and the staff were very accommodating! Food was great and any problems were sorted quickly. Chef came out to speak to us which was nice. Toilets were clean. Free carpark just across the road. Good menu with a few veggie options. Had dairy free ice cream which was an unexpected bonus!
A fabulous carvery. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Couldn't recommend it enough. We've eaten and drank here many times and never been disappointed. Dog friendly as well. Colin and Nicky and all the staff work very hard to make it a must visit pub. |
We have just experienced the most delicious meal in the loveliest of pubs with superb hosts. Such a welcoming pub for both people and their hounds. Love it! Thank you so much for what was a lovely evening and Max the dog really enjoyed his ice cream cone and all the attention.

Had an evening meal at this little gem after a long walk in the forest on our holiday. We booked ahead and we're assured we could bring our 2 spaniels with us. We arrived early but this was not a problem for the caring and friendly owners, who got us a seat by the fire. Creamy garlic mushrooms were to die for followed by a beautifully presented rump steak. Chef explained the meat was locally sourced and it was so tender and well seasoned. Absolutely delicious with all the trimmings. Our eyes were bigger than our bellies but the food was too good to leave behind. Teamed with crispy onion rings, homemade coleslaw and some of the best chips we've ever tasted. Chef even brought out some cooked sausage for our weary dogs. A good selection of homemade puddings too - we opted for white chocolate and strawberry brulee and a sticky toffee pudding. Scrumptious! We were made to feel very welcome and, much like the valley, friendly faces everywhere. We're from Yorkshire and so familiar with a good chat over good beer, and we were not disappointed! Thank you for a lovely meal, good beer, and lovely company ????
