Best KPortal Reviews
Booked a 60th birthday meal. There were 20 people attending. The food was delicious with a great choice available. All served up by helpful, friendly, courteous staff. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend for any celebration meals.
Very nice hotel in the Lancashire country side. Way better than chain. Very good service and food great. Lovely gardens to sit in. Would definitely stay here again. About 15 mins off the motorway and all the better for it.
This is a generous 2 star review. ||||The place was almost empty on a Friday night when we checked in. First impressions... it was pretty dated. Our bedroom (the Garden Room) had a lovely four poster bed which was a nice surprise, however when we went into the bathroom there was a major mould issue in the ceiling (see photos). Clearly there was damp and a leak - it was horrible. The bathroom only had a jacuzzi bath (I had requested a bath tbf) but due to the mould issue I did not dare to use the bath knowing what germs can live in a jacuzzi if not cleaned regularly. There was not a separate shower so we had to use a hand held shower in the bath to wash - with no shower curtain.||||One major problem was the bathroom radiator which was scalding hot. It was so hot I screamed as I accidentally touched it with my knee when on the toilet - it was so close it was unavoidable. I still have a small burn mark there. I also touched it again accidentally as walking though the bathroom door - this is a safety hazard as you will often not be fully clothed in the bathroom!||||We went elsewhere for dinner and had a lovely evening in Longridge. That night, back at the hotel, I did not sleep well as the bed was not very comfortable at all - I suspect the mattress was as old as the rest of the decor.||||Breakfast had the opportunity to try to redeem the hotel, but sadly it did not. The menus were a wrinkled, old laminated piece of paper and the one staff member was hard to find to order food. The menu suggested you could order kippers or smoked haddock, but neither were available. I had the full english with a poached egg (which arrived as a fried egg). The food was "adequate", but I did not see a staff member again after the breakfast was delivered to the table to ask if all was ok. The tea and coffee was self-service from conference dispensers with old faded labels on the front. It looked so old and sad. There was spilled milk on the tea and coffee and cereal table which stayed there the whole time (not cleaned up). The coffee ran out, but noone came to check on us to re-fill it. After I had finished breakfast my husband waited to get a coffee refill while I went upstairs to finish packing. He waited 15 minutes before giving up that noone was coming to refill the coffee.||||We paid a fair amount for this room, and to he honest a much cheaper Holiday Inn or Premier Inn would have been so, so much better - better breakfast, cleaner and newer rooms and the bed would have been more comfortable.||||If this has been a romantic break I would have been devastated. As it was a place to stay while seeing friends it did not ruin my trip - but I would not recommend this place. I suggest they invest some money in decent breakfast, employ some staff and make some repairs (including the bathroom radiator and the damp issue) and this place could be lovely. As it is its pretty grotty. ||||Avoid.
“'This review is intended to be objective and constructive. Firstly, the good points:||A lovely building with fantastic grounds and an enormous terrace.||Friendly staff.||Now, unfortunately, the problems:||Flies! Maybe the time of year, but there were flies all over - I think they enjoyed the food as much as we did. Also, in our room, there was an infestation of tiny black flies which I had to attack before putting the light out.||Reception. A bit like a dinghy large cupboard, and usually unmanned. The room keys were on a large wooden fob, almost too large to go in a pocket. Very 1960s.||Breakfast was poor. Yes, full English available, but no muesli, no weetabix, the granola seemed to run out as there was none on day 3, no fruit, either fresh or other. On two of our three days there was no white sugar, and pots of jam dumped on a table without a receptacle to take to your table.||I went down to the bar on day 2 at 9.25pm. The bar was shuttered, as was Reception. Just had to drink water!||Our room. Overlooked the car park, and had the smallest TV I've ever come across in a hotel. About the size of a laptop. The tiny bathroom had a loose loo seat, a damaged cord to the basin light, and a filthy, mouldy step up to the shower. These problems were reported - the loo seat was fixed, but a new cord to the light came away at it's first test.||We were given a reduction to what we paid, but these problems should not happen in a 3* hotel. A makeover is badly needed as it could be such a lovely hotel.||Obviously very popular with wedding groups, but for those staying there - Hmmmm!'”
My friend recently got married here. The venue was beautiful and some of the staff were helpful - but others let it down. The girl serving at breakfast couldn't have been less interested if she'd tried which was a shame. The coffee had ran out - so I politely asked for more - not a word from her to respond - just grabbed the empty coffee pot and stormed off, before returning and banging it down like she couldn't wait to leave. Just not the service you expect when it's a wedding and I paid a lot of money for one nights stay. It let the experience down. The food was nice but the rooms could do with updating - very old fashioned
Booked this hotel as will be working in the area for a few weeks, a great price for bed & breakfast. |The room I was given was Kelly, the room has a double bed & a single in and is very spacious with an en-suite bathroom. |The double bed was ok, had better and definitely had worse. |The room as stated was very spacious and the only problem I had was the size of the TV compared to the room size, needs to be bigger. |The Wi-Fi is ok, but could be better as found it hard to access work on my laptop. ||The food - all fantastic to be brief. ||Breakfast cooked to order, always hot and very quick service, only complaint - no black pudding! ||In the evening there is a great menu, both a set menu at £17 for 2 courses, £21.50 for a 3 course, this had a great selection of both starters & mains. ||Alternatively there is an al La carte menu which looked very good although the set menus were my choice each day. ||I highly recommend this hotel, I’ve seen other reviews and know each person is different, but for me I enjoyed my stay and will be here again next week.
Fabulous afternoon, thank you. |Great menu choice, 7 diners, every meal was delicious and tasty, generous servings,. |Homemade desserts which were 10/10. |Excellent service with a smile. |Beautiful hotel with spectacular gardens|Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.
Attended my grand daughter's wedding here but can't speak for the rooms as we didn't stay overnight. The staff were very friendly & attentive to everyone's needs. The grounds were perfect for staging a wedding with stunning backdrops & a great layout for wedding photos. The food was impeccable & the service was excellent.
