I’ve been here a couple times and I’ve had delicious hot meals both times. It’s definitely on the quiet side (but fortunately for me, that’s my preference). It’s a nice place for having a yummy hearty meal. The selection and flavour is reminiscent of school dinners, but I’ve always been a big fan of that kind of food.
I think the only people who eat here are those without much choice (patients, visitors, or staff).
The food is poor quality. There isn't enough seating - especially around lunch time, you often can't find any available tables. It's very "school cafeteria" style.
The NHS discount is good and the only reason I eat here - it makes it cheaper than buying lunch from the nearby shops or cafés.
Nice staff and good food. I thought it was reasonably priced. We’ve eaten here a number of times over the last 2 weeks.
Popped down today for lunch, only a couple of selections in mains but lots of variants to change it up. Polite staff, reasonably priced. Obviously if you’re staff you get a discount, fresh baguettes jacket potatoes salads wide choice of drinks hot and cold. It’s popular and I can’t fault it on my my experiences. It’s not the ritz it’s a hospital canteen but for what they do it’s not bad at all
Food quality is decent. Polite friendly staff. But quantity is woeful at times. It's fine if you need something to take the edge off but don't expect a proper amount of food to be served on your plate. Most of the time it barely fills between 1/2 and 3 quarters of a plate when you buy a set meal. It makes it incredibly poor value for the price as well considering you can get a subway close by for a similar price and something that fills you nicely. They often run out of metal cutlery too and the wooden disposable cutlery is pathetic, it couldn't slice through milk if you tried.
Usually good amount of seating but then I go later after lunch to avoid the rush. Choice isn't great at this time as well though just be aware, they only have one counter serving outside of normal meal times. But at least I can say its always tasted good, I've not had something taste poor or undercooked/overcooked yet.
Honestly.... The foods not great.. proper Jamie Oliver school dinner type of food and it's not cheap either. The fish and chips on Friday is so sad it's like one of those cheap battered fillets you stick in the oven. You know those ones you get from Asda and they're 4 for £2.50. Most of the staff are lovely.
Had breakfast here today (22 Jan)... Everything was cold except the plate it was served on... The drinks were OK.... Will not be using again
Horrible... Been here for 5months with sick newborn baby. Baby cannot have cow's milk, so mummy cannot have cow's milk as it will get into baby.
Food is always either meat or veg. No catering for glutin free, lactose free, vegan or anything not an English Breakfast. Every day I have to ask and only once or twice in five months has the vegetarian option not had milk in it.
I have been living off Chips and Beans as it's all I can have. If there was any other option is eat there
