Popped in to Farquharsons Bar for some food during a recent visit to Braemar.
We were welcomed by very friendly staff who managed to find us the only table available early on a Tuesday evening. It’s always a good sign when so many tables are booked.
We started with a nice bottle of Merlot then had one Beef Cobbler and a Venison casserole. The food was amazing, very flavoursome and well presented with a good tasty selection of vegetables. This was followed by some Chocolate ice cream just to finish things off.
Staff throughout were very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming, we will definitely be back for more.
On our return visit we had Chicken with Sesame seeds and Chilli dip followed by Beef Cobbler with mash and one Fish & Chips.
All very tasty , thanks.
Ordered take away on Wednesday the 28th February during peek time in a result to find the staff on the phone very friendly and lovely inside.
Food was made in time as requested. 8 lovely fresh crispy on the out side soft in the in side chip’s however the bottom selection seamed the left overs from the fryer dry crisp flat and no potato.
Chicken was cut in 4 and a half chunks, piping hot very soft and tender lovely grilled outer packed with flavour
The salad had a sweet with a bunch of sour kick to it tasted very fresh and went down well.
Sour cream dip was on point texture was spot on as it should be.
Tortola wrap altho was like wet tissue under the chicken,
Overall extremely happy with the service, hospitality and quality the only way a star has been taken off on this instance is because the size of the portion compared to the price is questionable. This may be my food critic side kicking in however it’s my opinion on this visit :/
Had read a few other reviews, parked up,went inside very busy, greeted by the barman Sam, excellent first impression, said there would be a wait, until he realised it was only me,ordered a Guinness, was shown to my table,my drink arrived, ordered my food, and took in the atmosphere great looking bar.Food arrived battered haddock peas chips tartar sauce....brilliant,polished that off,and removed myself to the bar for another drink.Quick turnarounds.overall impression brilliant.Great views outside
It’s a lovely looking place, staff were nice too but the food I wouldn’t recommend, just not worth the money. I ordered the salad with Salmon and feta - it looked embarrassing. I was embarrassed as the relatives from abroad ordered fish and ships and there was about 5 chips on the plate. Such a lovely place but the potion sizes are nothing to shout about.
Outstanding accommodating very friendly staff. Food is so delicious, tasty local produce, cooked to perfection. Lovely setting and ambience with a real log fire. With gins and whiskies galore. Will be returning soon.
Food was really good quality with decent sized portions. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was good. Dogs are allowed. Very popular.
Fantastic choice of local drinks which I much prefer to the commercialised ale. My partner also loved the choice of gins.
Food honestly blew me away. I had the kofta kebab. £16.90 for a main course and I would have paid £25 for it. Massive portion and every part of it was lovely, even the salad which is so often an after thought on meals.
I also had 2 dogs and the staff were so friendly and kind despite one of them being a bit loud at times.
Will definitely be returning.
Really enjoyed our three visits in the week we had been staying locally and each time we found very attentive staff super dog friendly and welcoming pub bar. Bar Food is good enjoyed each meal great coffees and hot chocolates. welcomes both vistors and locals with good honest unpretentious Scottish hospitality well done everyone we will be back again.
