Ordered delivery. "Just Eat" driver bungee-corded the boxes of food to his scooter and somewhat smashed them, but that's not the fault of the restaurant. Food was... okay. I've eaten at quite a number of Ethiopian restaurants, and this was far from the best I've had. Very oily, and very salty. Flavor and variety was okay, as was quantity. The "samosas for two" bore a striking resemblance (and taste...) to a handful of eggrolls filled with cabbage. Cost wasn't unreasonable, but the quality was not great.
Small but mighty vegan Ethiopian spot in Tooting market! They only have 2 tables so it feels a bit tight - in fairness because the restaurant is right at the entrance of the market, so it was pretty nice and intimate (and not too busy & loud especially in the evening). We went for mix veg platter for two which is an absolute great deal!! 4 types of stews presented nicely on a massive bed of injera. All stews/dishes were delicious - good amount spices and kicks. We appreciated that all of them had different taste/profiles and they made it perfectly. Almost like we had a good party in our mouth. Can't recommend more!!!
The coconut and butternut squash soup was great as were the samosas - recommend those. Nice Eritrean beer.
We had the sharing platter for 2 and the ater kik. They sauces come with a cold pancake - I'd get that warmed up if possible!
A great introduction to some Ethiopian Eritrean food.
Meal for 4 with drinks was £90.
Really good tasty food. The portion is on a slightly smaller size but the taste is amazing. Will definitely come back for more in the future
The food was absolutely delicious. We had the two person beyaynetu mix
Ethiopian and Eritrean kitchen. Fantastic freshly prepared food to order. A few seats available but takeaway also an option. Very friendly chef.
On the 11th January 2024, First time I tried out Elsa’a Vegan Kitchen in Tooting Market and the menu I tried out was TIKAL GOMEN. That menu tasted superb. The person who served me was Elsa’s husband. Unfortunately I have completely forgot his name, So I won’t able to put his name down in this review. Anyway I was saying to him I have been a vegetarian for 3 months now and I am loving every bit of it. I was telling him a lot of people over look vegetarian and vegan food and think meat is always the answer when trying out menu’s. But that is not always the case. They is so many fantastic vegetarian and vegan food dishes to try out. And also maybe that’s a message to society why do we have to eat meat which a animal is been slaughtered and been through suffering and pain. We humans destroy nature by doing that. And Elsa’s husband says he been a vegetarian for 25 years. Thumbs up ???? to him. Anyway going forward I will be definitely coming again to Elsa’s Vegan kitchen in near future in Tooting Market to try out more delicious Vegan menus for sure ????????????????
Took a suprise takeaway - Beautiful, food full of taste and flavour - with lots of options ! Very friendly and welcoming service.
Would definitely return, so lovely to have a place dedicated to vegan cusine!
