Tried for first time today, having often passed it on the way to other eating venues. Found it to be excellent value for money, with great choices and excellent helpings. £9.50 for buffet Sunday lunch with reasonably priced drinks and desserts inevitably means the place was extremely busy and booking table for 1.0pm wasn't the best choice Early or late would have been a better choice, but will definitely be going back.
Visited the Elm Restaurant for Father's Day meal with family. They were able to easily cater for 14, carvery meal was same as always, good value for money, enjoyed by all, 5 types of meat to choose from all hand carved, large variety of vegetables. If you are looking for an inexpensive pub lunch this place is ideal.
Carvery is very generous and only £6.95. Kids portions are big and cooked nicely. Nice and warm, cozy atmosphere with country music playing. We'll definitely come back again.
If I could give this place zero I would..... From the start at the bar and ordering drinks and paying for a carvery I found the woman serving very abrupt and rude, she couldn't even get a orange and tonic water right. Then when I paid for the meals she was so rude shouting at me. Putting that aside I was hungry and looking forward to a roast lunch. I wasn't impressed with the serving area the vegetables were only warm, some were not even cooked. The beef looked lovely but once on my plate and I tried to eat it it was tough.... Very sad experience and won't be returning.
Amazing find. Ultra friendly, warm, inviting and the carvery was plentiful and delicious.
Made a fresh pot of gravy for the wife. (Vegetarian)
Highly recommended for good homemade fair.
WOW ????????????
Elm Restaurant is a basic no frills establishment that gives good value for money. Only does roast dinners on a Sunday. Staff are friendly. There is a fish and chip shop but have never sampled this as yet.
A very sad experience. Worst Meal I have ever had: disgusting!
Came up from Luton to take my Mum out on her 91st Birthday. Not many restaurants locally that were open Saturday afternoon so we pulled into the Stable Bar Restaurant, delighted to see it was still open.
I should have cottoned on then; the place is quite large, with seating I guess for around 100 diners and it was empty, there wasn't anyone else ordering food.
I chose to have cod and chips as did my sister, my wife had char grilled chicken; Mum had prawn cocktail
When my food arrived I was rather surprised to find the cod wasn't in batter, I assumed it would be; and it wasn't cod. My guess is it was the cheap river cobbler, I think Trading Standards should be looking at this.
It was tough and rubbery, the first time in my long life I've eaten tough fish!
Sisters was the same and my Wife's char grilled chicken looked like a block of wood: tasted like it to according to my wife. Mum's prawn cocktail was OK although rather basic, lettuce and prawns; no tomatoes or brown bread.
Awful, dreadful meal ruined the whole birthday treat.
If you are hungry and in Wisbech, drive on by this place.
Morrison's have a nice cafeteria 100 yards or so up the road and I think there is a McDonald's just out of town.
Can't give them no stars, they don'y deserve one!
It had been deep fried for to long an
Lovely food and give you plenty of meat and meat choices we booked late could of done with more desert choice but all round very good have been before a few times and will go back regards Mel
