Edit again: Originally I gave the overhaul and change in management here a poor review thanks to issues with food/service. It does seem that these were indeed teething/setup issues as a recent visit to here has been much better.
Food quality is back to being high, fish batter is crisp and the chips are great. Its still not quite perfect, the pea mix is still a little on the liquidy side and while the food quality in general has shot up, the service can be a little slow but this seems to be down to more items being made fresh to order so this isnt actually as much of a problem and its more a thing to be aware of that you wont always be able to grab and go at speed.
Overall im very happy with the improvements made from here. Nice one!
Called in(first time) when we were visiting someone in the area and we popped out for some lunch. I had chips and pie(of the pukka variety)with baked beans and my partner had traditional fish n' chips. You're sure of a warm welcome,If i remember there is 3 portion size's of chips, so enough choice for everybody. It might have been close to closing time, but the crust on my pie was quite dry and I prefer a sloppy one, that apart would definitely go again, but now the reason for the visit has now gone home we are not expecting to be in the area again.
Thought this was under new management so tried it again, very disappointed again. The food just is not great quality and you can tell. Unless you want fish and chips I would not recommend ordering anything else on the menu. Need to start with better quality ingredients.
Spotlessly clean premises, staff friendly, polite and all in clean uniforms and wearing masks. Hand sanitizer available and contactless payment. Had fish and chips on this occasion and thoroughly enjoyed it...well cooked and no excess grease, no black chips, batter just right and all in recyclable wrappings. Well done guys and thank you...I will definitely be back.
The food was great, however I felt frustrated that two of the staff members kept taking off their masks as they were preparing and serving food. I recognise that it gets warm behind the counter however NHS staff would wear a mask for 12-15 hour shifts whilst panicking and being pushed to their limits during these difficult times

Fish wasnt fresh it was frozon batter was hard chips was frozen very disappointing we never go back again
