Popped in for a pint and Owner was about to close up as quite. Said as long as I'm drinking he's staying open. And it's a dog friendly pub which I love. Will be drinking here again!
I'm not normally a person to write reviews but after today's experience at Dylan's I felt I had to write one.
I was absolutely disgusted with a comment the owner made when me and husband ordered our food and drinks.
I wanted a glass of tap water and the owner whispered to a female member of staff "oh what a big spender". My husband heard your comment!
How rude!!
Since we had paid for dinner, we stayed but have decided to never to go again. We often bring our families here but after today, we will not return.
I also found the atmosphere tense, as the owner was constantly barking orders at kitchen staff from across the room. Very rude again!
If I could rate lower than a 1 star I would.
Went for Sunday lunch, didn't book just arrived and found a table for four easily. Wasn't too busy and we could just go up and help ourselves right away. Staff were very friendly, and especially helpful about the vegetarian options. Food was one of the best carveries around, would gladly go back again.
I spent a few days in Porth visiting friends. They had booked a table at Dylan's. I found my time there very enjoyable it was very busy but was very well organised. We had a fabulous sirloin steak. The staff were marvellous, excellent service and very good value for money. Plus I was told the food is all local produce
New owners have done a good job in supplying more choices of food, cream teas, pizza. Went there Saturday with a group of friends, didn't pre-book but the meal (4 of us had steak) cooked to perfection and a good size and didn't have to wait long. Only thing I would change is that there was no entertainment, but I guess they in process of doing that anyways.
Our group met there for lunch, nice surrounding, happy with food, but none of us will return as we were not happy with the large dog running around and another dog and its owner sat at the bar with barstaff petting the dog from behind the bar. On leaving we also noted a hygiene rating of '1' !
I visit Dylan's once per week with my mother ,the staff are very friendly and welcoming . The new owner is a friendly guy who always makes time to chat to us and ask how the food is and advising us on new meals etc . We never have to wait long for the food which arrives hot straight from the Chef . It's a regular once a week treat for us . 100% recommend a visit .
Dismal, cold and the hot chocolate had split somehow! I like dogs but don't want the huge hairy things roaming around me when eating! This place had so much potential but poor decisions seem to ruin it.
