Nice for a visit if your in the area, parking available small charge, toilets on site. Lots of picnic tables and seat around, children's play area. Short stroll to harbour where cafe, and gift shop available.
Ancient ancestral home of the Kennedy's .Current ruins are thought to be 15th century.
Perched on a rocky pedestal above the beach this historic place has a unique bee hive shaped doocot still in use by the local pigeon population .Only a short few miles from Ayr travelling through historic Alloway, this little coastal enclave is a treasure trove of delights with is quaint harbour, castle and coastal path walks. A great day out with so much to see and do.
This ruined castle by the sea allows you to walk inside a bit. The view is astonishing ???? Car park with no fee charged is right next to the castle. Green grass field with a lot of space is a plus.
Castle ruins that you can explore and get some really nice pictures. Plenty on site parking and only a few hundred yards walk from Dunure Harbour. Which has a nice wee tea room ????
One of our favourite places we visited. The castle ruins are stunning. Sited on the hill in Dunure. Easy to park, plenty of benches to sit and take in the amazing views
You can go into the castle ruins to a point with lots of information explaining what each section was used for.
We spent a good while admiring the views and thoroughly enjoyed it here especially on a sunny warm day.
There is also the Harbour View cafe, a craft / gift shop and a restaurant at the harbour only a short distance away too
Visited in mid September, breezy but no too cold. Perfect location to watch the sunset go down. Brilliant for anyone who wants to take their dogs for a walk a massive playing field right at the back, and no one else there but us!
Indulge in the beautiful views of the coast and explore the historic Dunure Castle where you can walk right in and see the ruins, plenty of info around about the castle, and take a walk up the steps to look out the window arch over the coast.
Also toilets, kids play park and plenty of parking as well as walking trails.
Dunure Castle, Harbour and Labyrinth.
It was lovely to walk amongst the Summer flowers in the labyrinth here in June, taking in some beautiful views of the coastline and the castle from afar.
We managed to park close by the castle in the early evening for free.
I was happily surprised to find the castle open for visitors (for free). There were lots of information boards...and safety notices, this wouldn't be somewhere to visit if you feel uneasy with unstable surfaces!
The walk from the coastline to the harbour was lovely, passing little beaches along the way. The area just past the harbour was an Outlander filming location.
I'd highly recommend visiting this area on a sunny day.
Great place to visit if you are in Dunure. The castle and surroundings are beautiful, and if you take the stairs up, you are presented with an excellent view.
