Unrivaled Highland Views at Drumbeg Viewpoint
On our journey along the NC500, one particular highlight stood out: the Drumbeg Viewpoint. This hidden gem in the Scottish Highlands offers an unforgettable spectacle of nature’s finest work.
The drive to the viewpoint itself is an experience, winding through the scenic, rugged landscape. Once at the top, you are rewarded with one of the most breathtaking panoramas Scotland has to offer. The view stretches out over Loch Drumbeg, the wild moorlands and the distant peaks, showcasing a diverse and vivid palette of colours that change with the day's mood.
Parking at the viewpoint is convenient, with sufficient space even during busier times. Despite its popularity, the viewpoint never felt crowded, maintaining a peaceful, intimate atmosphere.
The information board provides interesting details about the landscape, its flora and fauna, and even suggests what wildlife you might spot. We appreciated this insightful touch, as it enhanced our understanding and appreciation of the view before us.
But the real magic happens when you take a moment to soak in the surroundings. The raw, unspoiled beauty of the highlands, the shifting shadows on the mountains, and the serene loch waters make for a mesmerising sight. It's a testament to Scotland's enduring natural beauty.
In conclusion, the Drumbeg Viewpoint is a must-visit on your NC500 adventure. Offering more than just a break in the drive, it invites you to pause, breathe in the fresh highland air, and immerse yourself in a view that is truly out of this world.
A "must see" while travelling in the Northwest of Scotland (NC500). A lovely spot to stop and take in the views of the islands and coastal reaches on the B869.
It is a magnificent view point with loads of island that you can see. The drive here for me was quite challenging. I wouldn’t recommend the driving route here via the mountain as there is a lot of blind summits , curvy roads and tight space
Absolutely stunning views...I even saw a deer, but didn't have time to get my camera
Lovely place with spectacular views
Amazing viewpoint even if you are just passing by. Difficult to stop and enjoy it as there is not much parking around
On most roads this view would be a highlight. On the NC500, there are 20 better views every day. Handy toilet stop though.
Amazing viewpoint. 3-4 seals basking on the rocks in the glorious sunshine. Drive can be a bit tricky for first timers, just take your time and you will be fine. Well worth the trip.
