it is near impossible to get to talk to human receptionist and if you do manage it you will regret it because they are rude and do not care if you are sick. they are there to earn their wage fighting off patients requests, not help you. don't waste your time online either because they will ignore that too, if it works, cos they cheaped out on the site as well as the receptionists.
Waited to get appointment. Dr was very nice arrange some test . Place tidy nurse was nice
Dr Backhouse is the best GP at The Grange Medical Centre. However due to covid-19 it is impossible to get an appointment and even prior to the pandemic, waiting times to see a GP are long. It is much better to do it online but currently this function has been disabled due to the pandemic.
It's difficult to contact by phone and when you get through you virtually have beg to get to speak to a doctor with telephone call back and it's even worse for an appointment.
Reception staff are helpful and friendly.
Today I consulted Dr Ellen Oakhill whose manner and smile were a tonic in themselves
The receptionists Olga and Elaine are absolutely disgustingly rude and need to be in a different job role away from having to speak to members of the public! They do not care about the patients at all. I was still on hold for 50 minutes when I made my way down in person to find only one patient sat in the waiting room and these two women sat chatting behind reception! When asked to make an appointment in person they refused and told me to call at 8.15 in a very rude manner. I explained I can not get through to make an appointment they just repeated to try calling in morning and to leave the surgery. I have made an official complaint and changed doctors!
Worse receptionist ever. Been calling for appointments for the last 2 weeks as I cant come in in the morning because I look after my dad who had a stroke so I neither can afford to go to A&E. The staff is really rude even tho I have been nothing but nice. My condition has got worse without me realising and it got to a point where I was 1 minute away from dieing.
Over two weeks ago my wife was sent a text message to contact the Medical Centre to arrange a review of her medication She was asked to phone at 0815, after a fortnight of not getting through she gave up. She thought the surgery would contact her again, they never did.
Yesterday 31st March she attended her appointment at the LGI plastics department for her wound to be dressed. It was discovered that she had an infection and required antibiotics and should contact her doctor as soon a possible.
In view of the fact that she could never get a reply to her phone calls, I drove directly to the Grange, it was very quiet with only one person in the waiting room and one receptionist.
I explained the situation to her and she said there were no appointments available for that day. I asked if she could make one for the next one available, she gave the stock reply, you will have to phone at 0815 tomorrow. When I said that she could not get through, I was told that they always had four staff answering calls on a morning, so my wife should get through. She then suggested a walk in centre at Burmantofts, I said she would prefer to see her own doctor. I was again told she would have to phone at 0815 the next day.
I would add that in all the time I was there, the phone never rang, so it dd not seem that busy.
My wife started phoning at 0815 the next day and she finally got through at 0900. After explaining again what I had told the receptionist, she was told that she would arrange for the doctor to make a triage call to my wife.
So my question is, why could she not have arranged that in the first place ? It would have saved my wife spending forty five minutes on the phone.
It would appear from my experience and from what I have read in other reviews, the receptionists are the problem at this practice, they are unhelpful and have no idea how to deal with people.
