Can highly recommend this lovely cafe, the team are so friendly and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble.
Had some excellent food from the varied menu including festive afternoon tea and breakfast and the cakes are amazing!!
A gorgeous little outdoor area too, with blankets provided if it gets a bit chilly.
Booked in for brunch, asked about parking as my elderly mum is not the steadiest on her feet , was offered the staff car parking on the side of the building which was brilliant for mum, and then to follow on the food was delicious, we were asked if any allergies and the staff couldn’t do enough for us, even the toilet has full facilities for people with disabilities and baby changing, highly recommend and can’t wait to visit again soon
Great little place to have a coffee with friends and the dog. Lea was so accommodating, she even laid blankets for the dogs to rest on! Service was spot on, food was absolutely delicious and so fresh. Unfortunately we had no room left for the delicious cakes on offer, so we will see you next weekend to sample them.
We’re not local to the area but popped in for a coffee. We had a lovely welcome, friendly staff and enjoyed our coffee and fruit toast! We’ll definitely be back ????
We had the most fantastic festive afternoon tea here. The sandwiches were chunky and full, sliced wraps on a skewer were very tasty. Olives and pigs in blankets were very tasty as was the sweet selection. All this was followed by a choice of hot drinks. Nothing was too much trouble and it knocked spots off any other afternoon tea I’ve had. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Wow!! The food is absolutely amazing and what a gorgeous place. The owner and staff are fantastic and so friendly. Would 100% recommend, so do my parents who visit every week ????
This cafe needs a health warning for coeliacs and those with wheat allergy. I asked for gluten free bread and was given sourdough. I have since found out that the sourdough contains wheat. At no point did the server check whether I was coeliac or had an allergy - they just assumed that sourdough would be okay. I would not trust them to serve me again.
It recently reopened and I was at first, very hopeful. The interior and the way that they have renovated the building is quite amazing. It has a lovely warm feel to it and the staff are friendly. I truly believe they’ve tried to create the best café experience that they could.
Now, I should preference this next statement with this. I am a Coffee snob. At home I have my own espresso machine and I like to use freshly roasted Coffee. So I go into any coffee shop with high expectations, and unfortunately these expectations were not met. With the coffee equipment that they have I expected to be met with someone who was passionate about creating Coffee, and from the first sip I could tell there hasn’t been the appropriate dialling-in. The coffee isn’t well extracted, and the milk is heated well beyond the heat that it should be. On the whole this is something that can be fixed quite easily, and it would quickly change my opinion. At nearly £4 a coffee I expect this to get better.
I love our local community and I really want local businesses to succeed but I also think we should have high expectations
I am hopeful Devenhams CW9 will get to the standards that I think the owners want and I look forward to it becoming a local coffee hub but right now it has a few things to tweak
