Just sold me 2 old potato laka’s all brown inside, they use to be lovely and fresh best’s about town what going on ???
So disappointed to hear they are closing down on 2/9/22 after 40 years. Has been my go to deli for many of those years & were so supportive in providing catering for my fathers funeral & stone setting. I will miss them.
Arrived at 9.20 this morning. 20mins after they opened and just 1 loaf of cholla out. Rest of the shelves were bare. I said that was obviously yesterday's bread and the man who was serving (I think he's the owner) took great offence, wouldn't let the matter drop and made me feel so small l felt obliged to take the bread. Funnily enough I said 3 times 'you haven't answered the question '. Well guess what-when I arrived at my destination and opened the packet, I can only say that if the bread was fresh he needs to change his baker!
I have never stepped foot in this deli, but I did order food to be delivered to my friend who lost her mum. I dealt with Michael, and he could not have been more warm and wonderful. When my credit card was declined because my bank was suspicious of the overseas charge, Michael said not to worry, and that I could call him back later, and the food would go out without payment. Who does that! Clearly Michael does. My friend loved the food, and I will certainly be going in to shop there myself next time I am in the UK.
The food in the deli section is wonderful. It is all freshly made on the premises. The cheese cake is lovely. Large selection of fried fish. Also gefilte fish. I didn't try the meat section, except for the chopped liver but it all looks good. The non-deli section is very limited
I ordered 2 egg mayonnaise platsels and the women behind the counter took money from previous customers then when making my food straight after with NO gloves on or attempt to wash her hands before. Whilst making the food the egg mayonnaise went on her hand and she decided to lick it off and carried on making my food. Even in times of no covid it would be bad enough but totally unacceptable. I threw the food away as I didn’t want to make a scene as the women was quite elderly. If I decide to ever go back I will definitely be saying something or informing Redbridge council of the hygiene.
Went there really early on a Sunday and bought some onion pletzels. Got home and discovered that they were really stale. I assume that they were Friday's leftovers. How could they consider it ok to sell them to customers?
Been going here for years. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent selection of food which is always well cooked and delicious.
