I've tried DD's in 3 places now and it's been good every time. The menu changes frequently as does the location though the vibe of the cafe in Marchmont is great for brunch.
The fried chicken is nice and crispy and a real treat if avoiding gluten (and also if not!). I highly recommend the Korean waffle if it's available (pictured at the Bellfield gf brewery popup). Very interesting flavours and not something you see everyday even with gluten.
They even sometimes have guest pop-ups themselves in Marchmont which is a brilliant idea.
Absolutely appropriately named—always a delight, and always delicious. I have celiac and almost everything on their menu can be made gluten free (especially on the new updated menu!) and I have never gotten sick from cross contact, whether eating in or takeaway—so appreciate their inclusion. The (gluten free) fried chicken is a favorite, and they make a great vegan hot chocolate! As a bonus, dogs are welcome ????
Such a lovely experience and the food is beyond delicious. Would highly recommend coming here for the Sunrise Stack, but really anything here is super tasty. Try the hot chocolate as well. Come during the „golden hour“ between 12 and 1 and choose from both the brunch and lunch menu.
I had high hopes when visiting DD but it sadly didn't live up to the hype.
I ordered the Canadian stack which consisted of waffles, bacon, egg, chicken and a hash brown.
The hash brown was cooked perfectly and it may have been the best hash brown I have ever eaten. Sadly that was the pinnacle of the meal as the chicken, the bacon and the glaze on the chicken had a bitter burnt taste to them and that destroyed the flavours of the meal for me. Because of this I won't be back.
It took quite a while for my order to come and although service wasn't terrible it also wasn't service with a smile.
The was little if any atmosphere and it was very cold inside the restaurant.
Completely lives up to the name! Waffles and shakes were amazing and very generous, filling portions at a good price - very happily took the blondie home to enjoy later. Vegan and GF options were also available. Staff were really friendly and helpful. 100% would recommend! ????
Stumbled upon this place, they had a gluten free menu with heaps of options! I got a cappuccino, 3 hash browns and a waffle stack all for 10 pounds!!!
UPDATE: the restaurant has changed
I left a review a while ago raving DD’s (you will see it below this update). When I visited DD’s they did a fabulous brunch with this amazing cilantro, waffle, chicken dish they made me go back often! My recent visit was not as delicious, and they have completely revamped their menu and offerings. I will have to try their new menu, but I am disappointed as DD’s used to be my favourite brunch place!

SO SO SO GOOD! This place is a MUST when living/visiting Edinburgh. Their waffles are out of this world, and you cannot go wrong with any of their brunch/lunch options. The milkshakes are the best I have ever tried - the perfect balance of sweetness. The atmosphere is very calming, I highly recommend this place to anyone!
Delicious chicken and waffles, the picture attached is going large. Which is very big. Lotus biscuit for scale. Service was excellent too. Highly recommended!
