I've enjoyed most of the sweetie range from DeeValley Confectioners. Great to keep in the car ready to pop in when travelling. Stay away from the Heather Mixture, however. Green and red sweeties have a very odd taste ...
Their sweets are absolutely delicious and they make them while people can watch. Rock etc..
Short coach visit In Ballater today, looking forward to purchasing more homemade treats after visiting last year. Shop was closed but stated would reopen 12.45. Our coach was leaving shortly after 1pm, but thought the wait would be worth it.
When staff returned at 12.50 there was a wee queue waiting to purchase.
I said "you have a wee queue now" to which she shrugged and retorted patience is a virtue, entered building closing main door behind her.
Everyone left, no sales from us today. Won't be back. Shame on you!!
First visited the best sweetie shop in Scotland in 1989, passed through Ballater in 2022 and was delighted to see it still there and offering a great selection of sweets
Worst home made fudge I think I've ever tried, bought locally to support local business and thought wow home made fudge, got three different flavours, all were a huge disappointment! I could make it better myself! Death by chocolate, more like death by boredom ????

Fabulous shop full of hand made traditional goodies. Too many decisions to make!! And the lady that was serving today was so friendly. A must for all sweetie lovers!
A must see for anyone visiting not just Ballater, but Aberdeenshire. I’ve been coming since I was a kid - the factory is fascinating and their sweets are world class!
