Best KPortal Reviews

This is definitely one of the best fish and chip shops in Bourne. Fish was very good, less oily compared to other places, the chips were cooked perfectly. Ordered in store, cooked to order. The service was pretty quick. There are 3 high chairs and little table if you like to eat in.
Packaging is less fancy, wrapped and in a plastic bag-no environmental friendly paper bags.
Sausage was really good too.
Didn't get to purchase any food as the service was dreadful stood there for 10 minutes as the black girl behind the counter didn't acknowledge any one or make much eye contact as she served other customers. Totally unprofessional wearing headphones walked out as the other customers in front of me ordered 6 bags of chips and fish at that point she put in more chips so I knew even after the first 10 minutes waiting I would be there at least another 10 minutes. Dreadful miserable girl behind the counter
Up until today I have had good experiences at this fish and chip shop. The staff have been friendly, and welcoming towards me and my Assistance Dog, who I have highly trained in accordance with the Equality Act of 2010 to assist my brain with my registered Autism disability, that if challenged, has in the past turned around and hit people. My dog calms me down by touching his fur, and looking into his quiet eyes. The act states that the dog can be owner trained, not by an organisation, does not have to wear identification to state they are an assistance dog, although I choose to with mine, and can be selected to meet the owner's needs. My dog is quiet, stands or sits by me, and causes no one problems. My Autism report done by the medical professional through my doctors surgery states that I will benifit from having an Assistance Dog. Owners of food establishments, or any establishments that sell or provide a service to the public, have to admit an assistance dog, as they are an 'ancillary aid' and are there to assist the disabled person to overcome the challenges of everyday life. They should not be told to 'wait outside' as this is unlawful discrimination. A dog's place to a disabled person in law is no different to someone who uses a wheelchair or a walking cane to assist them. Also, the law superceedes any policies a business puts in place for themselves. Dees sells fish and chips to the public. Therefore laws regarding assistance dogs applies to them, despite them selling food.
So this is the story. Tonight, 7th March 2024, I walk in to be greeted by the black girl that works there. Only seen one black girl. First thing she says is 'can you take the dog outside.' I said, no, he is my assistance dog for my Autism. She replied 'take your dog outside, we will come outside to take your order.' I replied its against the law for you to tell me to take him outside. She then started to state about their policies about dogs and tried to get me to take him outside again. I just turned round and told her, she needs to read the law, I am not taking him outside her policies don't apply. She started to stutter again about taking him outside and they would come and take my order. I just said a firm 'no' turned around and walked out to her astonishment. I left the by now negative atmosphere of the shop, went home and cooked my own food.
The management of Dees needs to make their staff firmly aware that people with disabilities that require them to have an Assistance Dog are allowed to enter, as long as they stand in the 'public' area, in front of the counter, which is where I stood with mine. Only if a dog is a nusence, for example, barks at people, can they be asked to remove them. In my case, my dog didn't make a noise. There is an excellent booklet produced by the Equality and Human Rights Commission entitled 'Assistance Dogs a guide for all businesses' with a green cover that explains everything very well.
So, in conclusion, if you're disabled and you need a dog for your disability, I highly recommend you steer clear of this fish and chips shop, as they seem to think they are 'above the law' and discriminate against those of us that use a dog to assist us, by telling us to wait outside in the cold. I will not be returning to Dees with my brown furry Cockapoo.
First (& last) visit today. The batter on the fish was thick, undercooked, oozing with grease and spongy.
Chips seemed to have been reheated
Just had chips late Saturday lunch and they were fine thanks
Basic chippy that serves quality fish and chips. Chips are amazing and fish is always a decent size, succulent and not overloaded with too much batter. The ladies are good at running the show and are very efficient. Best in Bourne by a long way.
By far and away our favourite fish & chip shop in Bourne. Although the service can be a little frosty, the food is yummy.
First time using this chip shop, as I just moved to the area. Very nice fish and chips was going to have the haddock but on there recommendation and to save waiting I tried the cod. Tasty batter, tasty fish and very tasty chips. Was still piping hot after walking home with it. Very friendly and pleasant staff. Will be going back.
