How can the Cross Keys please when a red light shines so bright?
Considering a foray inside off the street?
Remember as you leave then to wipe your feet.
If the welcome dogs were to guide you in there, what tales of owners’ sorrow would they be able to share?
Four pints of Guinness later and a bag of salted nuts, Colette at least makes a point of treating accompanying mutts.
The faulty jukebox is quiet and she may well challenge your choices, your favourite music lost above the sullen voices.
The pool table is well kept though space is impossibly tight.
Any complaints raised inevitably result in an emotive fight.
For thirty years the pub’s remained virtually the same.
This time warped establishment renders some people insane.
Not least the landlady, embittered by grief and the status quo.
Fettered by the pride of what was, her only hope of freedom from this jailhouse is therefore to go.
A great wet pub with an Irish flavour to it greatly enhanced by the character full and friendly landlady. Two real ales on normally, beautifully kept. The Guinness is the best I've tasted this side of the water. The pub has great charm and is always cosy with the wood burner blazing between the two rooms on cool winter nights.
Food is not served.
Collette is a lovely women, she makes the place. You'll be hard pushed to find a warmer, kinder women running a pub. Wait till you've tried the Guinness, wow.
This is a hidden gem in Wansford, old school pub with a modern take on service and affordability. Collette makes you welcome amongst the friendly locals in a warm wood burner cozy lounge with the decor of Christmas boosting you into the seasons real feel. Not to mention the best Guinness in the area. A pleasure to have frequented every time.
This pub has all the superlatives. Was going to go to the Haycock but found this gem while looking for somewhere to park .. . We'll be back .. .
A great run local pub with great beer .no food available as not a food pub .Worth a visit
Only just discovered this pub in the last few weeks having lived four miles away for years. It’s an absolute gem, top quality ale and the friendliest landlady going.
A great genuine local pub which does not serve food and feels like days gone by with great beer. The landlady Colet is fabulous at making you feel welcome.
