5 portions of fish and chips tonight. The batter was rock hard, fish dry. Chips were the worst I've had. Spent most of the time trying to find good chips amongst the bad. Don't normally complain but not worth the money.
Absolutely lovely place to go and get food, the people that work there are also very polite.
Younger ones said 'the sausages tasted really amazing'. For us, the fish was spot on too????
Definitely worth the drive out if you fancy some fish and chips etc. Portions are more than generous too.

Used Crispins tonight after a few visits to other ropey establishments, and oh my goodness! Perfect chips, food was piping hot - all 6 of us were very impressed - this will now be our fish and chippy!

Tried Crispins for the first time, I can safely say it will be the last. Had battered sausages, fish and chips. The fish cooked to order was a good size and hot. The batter on the sausages and fish though left a lot to be desired. It looked and tasted burnt. The chips although a good portion size were soggy, greasy and looked as though they had been cooked in weeks old oil. Prices were good, but I definitely do not recommend this place and won't be trying again.
So you make sense of this, a three peice chicken meal costs a specific amount but when I asked for 3 chicken breast peices they said not as a three peice only as separate paid, but it doesn't say that on the board or the menu, at this point, they had nothing cooked but I didn't want to wait as their service counter is directly over and next to their wrapping paper, people were resting on the service counter leaning over with their mouth directly over the service paper they were wrapping other peoples food in so when they were spluttering and coughing the contents of their mouth, lungs and chest were ending up being wrapped up with other people's food, I explained this and the older service lady got the hump, strange realy, their food hygiene certificate rating which is quite highly rated is proudly shown on the wall so you would think they would understand my concern, but obviously not, so it was kind of like getting a service contract for a mobile phone or sky on one hand i,e you can have a 24 month contract but you can't pay for it in one go even though this is the agreement because the government might change the interest rates so we'll have to charge you more, and on the other hand it was like you should expect other people's spit in your food, it was a very unsettling experience ???? so I walked out hungry and confused.
Absolutely fabulous food staff and price
Had to change my last review as food has been bad the last four times so will be going elsewhere.
Chips are very greasy, overcooked and have to rake through all the bad ones just to get an average of a quarter that is edible.
Fish has got smaller with more overcooked batter on it. Pies are overcooked, dried out and hard. Sausages in batter are cheep mush and tasteless.
The last two kebabs we've had the meat tastes like is has been reheated in a water bath in the microwave and gave us very upset stomach.
The portion sizes have got much smaller and the prices have gone up. Young girls at the till smile and are polite but the older staff are stone faced and do not make you feel welcome. So had enough of this place and friends and our kids agree we won't be wasting our money here anymore.
