We had afternoon tea here, it was a lovely experience :) loved the cakes and the sandwiches, there was a good selection and they were not too heavy/overly sweet; the atmosphere was very elegant as one would expect. I felt that the staff was very polite and efficient, service was great. I'd recommend it. It's very easy to reach from marble arch, which is a big plus.
Enjoyed the afternoon tea here in a nice and airy dining room. The tea served here is quality loose leaf and I can highly recommend the Oolong tea.
A nice variety to the sandwiches but for me a little more filling was needed in 4 of the 5 sandwich choices. Scones were good and the little cakes were very light which meant you could, just about, finish your half of the tea.
We had ours as a sparkling afternoon tea, unfortunately the sparkles were not as chilled as I’d like although still nice!
We used a buyagift voucher for ours which meant I felt like it was reasonable value for money
World class service and loose leaf tea was advertised on the website but neither was delivered. The food itself was okay but not what you would expect from a 5star hotel restaurant. If you have never experienced afternoon tea I would recommend going elsewhere for a more authentic experience. If you can score yourself a coupon for a discounted price then it can be worth the quick pit stop.
Had afternoon tea in here last weekend and unfortunately it wasn't worth the price. We were the first people in at 12 noon and although the greeting was friendly the service after that was generally lacking and not attentive. The food was ok, not great by the standards of some other London afternoon teas, the scones were good and the almond tea was to die for.
However a large part of the experience of an afternoon tea is the service that should come with it and here the crescent lounge get it very very wrong. The waiting staff all crowding around the bar with backs to customers, no check backs, no opportunity to order additional products, other customers having to shout across the restaurant multiple times to get attention. Also having builders/workmen hanging around and using the restaurant as a cut through ruins the atmosphere.
The customers in the restaurant were made to feel like a nuisance and the staff need to massively up their game if this place is to compete with London rivals
The staff was not welcoming, they choose who to attend first regardless being seated first. The food arrived prior the drink, when I asked for it, the waiter replied in a defensive tone.
Also, the food was a joke, they served sweets from the supermarket, the jam for the scones was old, and the drink warm.
Went here for high tea. We phoned in advance to check they offered gluten free high tea and we told they did. But when we sat down to eat we were told they did not offer a gluten free high tea but they did, immediately offer my wife an excellent alternative. Thanks for the good service.
The food was quite poor considering this is meant to be a 5* establishment. I can see from past reviews that the cakes we received on our visit were not the same as the cakes we saw in other people’s pictures. Ours were tiny, dry and bland. The kind you’d expect to get in a cheap dessert buffet. Other pictures looked like slices of actual carrot cake, chocolate cake and Victoria sponge. Utterly disappointed. That we didn’t receive the same on our visit.
We also enquired at the beginning about upgrading to bottomless Prosecco, as is one of the voucher options available online, but were told this can’t be accommodated for some strange reason. We’ve upgraded on the day at several other afternoon tea places in London before, so were a little surprised. However, seeing that the ladies next to us had a bottomless voucher but sat with an empty bottle for 20 minutes, perhaps it was a good thing that we weren’t able to upgrade!
A weekend surcharge of £3 per person also applies. This wasn’t a problem but just making others aware.
We ordered an extra glass of Prosecco and paid our bill. As we left, a waitress chased us out and told us we needed to pay the surcharge, which we’d of course already done when paying the bill. Quite embarrassing - you’d think staff would communicate with one another or check their systems before chasing customers out. Overall disappointing.
The worse Afternoon tea experience. Scones were served with jam and butter (was told there was no clotted cream). Cake was not fresh. Tea/coffee was served luke warm. Only descent thing was the glass of Prosecco.
