Best KPortal Reviews

Went last night (Friday) around 7pm, there was hardly a queue and food was available. The man serving kept us informed about wait time as they were refilling some of the dishes and the food was delicious! Reviews on here had me worried but based on last night, I’d purchase again if I’m in the area. If travelling from could mean then being sold out whilst I’m en route wasn’t a risk I’d make the journey.
My only suggestion would be for a little salad to be in the meal or even coleslaw, but not a big deal.
Went around 3:50-4:00PM on a Saturday and there was a queue but wasn’t that long. I ordered a medium meal with lamb chops, wings and Mac and cheese and everything was so good. The jollof was smokyyy???? and the wings were amazing! The lamb chops and rice were Quite spicy but that’s just my spice tolerance???? but overall everything was really good! The servers were really nice and asked questions to understand what I wanted!
HONEST REVIEW - i went approximately 3.30pm (just as it opened) on a friday afternoon. i must stay i have no complaints about the customer service, staff were friendly, service was fast & no queues. i was thankful for that considering i drove 30 mins to get there.
food was okay, i ordered a large with a fanta which amounted to £23 - wings were the best thing there and they gave a good portion because they were small. i wasn’t keen on the mac&cheese or lamb chops. the lamb chops had that strong lamb smell to it which i hate usually when i cook lamb i wash it with vinegar and lemon to get rid of the strong smell/taste. so i actually didn’t eat much of that.
mac & cheese - i’ve had better so i hardly ate that too.
shrimp was okay - quite dry i guess they were overcooked
plantain - can’t go wrong i suppose lol
jollof - definitely smokey and nice but i like spice and that was missing. (i think there should be a choice of spicy and non spicy)
food looks great but the proof is in the pudding and in all i’d give the food on a whole a 6.5/10
next time if i decide to go back i’d get a smaller meal and opt for the wings and rice
as you can see in the image the wings were nearly all gone cos i had eaten the majority of them lol
This is my second time coming and ACTUALLY getting the food.
My first encounter; I came to the shop about 630 and they were locking the shutters to my dismay.
So first point to make; they SELL OUT and they sell out FAST.
On this visit, I was first in line and had been outside the shop from about 420, doors open 5. A queue started to form about 445. During my wait B and some staff were in and out of the shop, clearly passing but no pleasantries exchanged. Hmmm..
Doors did open on time. The staff were somewhat attentive, trying to multitask serving me and having their own conversation. Hmm - however I was in and out within 10mins *thumbs up*
I did want to try the punch but it wasn’t available on the day so I settled for a drink from the fridge.
Food was nice, it’s not an every week type meal for me, but when I’m feeling for some razzle dazzle, CookedByB would defo be an option. I actually can’t knock it. I get the fuss, I get the queue. With this type of hype though I would expect for more food to be readily available but there must be a reason behind the madness *shrugs*
Queuing does not guarantee you some food because I’m telling you, people are buying like 5/6 boxes one time; just look at the portion size, of course they will run out lol.
Happy queuing and Good Luck! Lool
I’ve visited Cooked By B countless of times and the customer service and food has always been second to none! No faults whatsoever. The restaurant is always clean and staff are super friendly. They’ve recently changed their opening times to 3PM - 9PM and they’ve managed to deliver and exceed expectations regardless of what time you arrive. It’s great to see the well-deserved growth!
Been here twice, they changed their ingredients so the jollof rice was much tastier. I qued for 45mins only to be told they had run out of everything except rice and plantain.
If your in the area on Tuesday, Thursday and saturday its worth a try however the food is not life changing. If you come at 5.20 like I did you may be at risk of not eating.
I had the prawns, mac and cheese, plantain and jellof rice (I'm pescatarian) I'll start off with the pros, the service was 10/10 very welcoming and friendly, the prawns were very well seasoned and the prawns were soft and sweet just how I like it. The cons were that the mac and cheese were extremely bland and tasteless, the same with the jellof rice I couldn't taste the seasoning. This was my first time trying authentic Nigerian food, and it didn't meet the standards to what I believe Nigerian food would taste like AKA seasoned.(the jellof rice just taste like pure tomato paste and nothing else) I think the dish would balance out the blandness of the rice if you replaced it with white rice so you can truly enjoy the flavours from the fish. I'm hoping that it was a one-off. I'll try it ONCE more to make sure it was just a one-off. My boyfriend had the regular 5 sides he said the mac and cheese was ok, wishes it was gooey, and I can agree on that too. The lamp chops were really hard, like biting into a brick, the wings were average, and the jellof rice was below average. He enjoyed the plantain it was soft and sweet. He rated the service 10/10, too. (We both decided we'll give it one more go just in case it was their day off) When we do go back, we will give you our final verdict
For £15 I got 1 lamb chop, the menu suggests that there would be more than one in the meal “lamb chops” is says. I got Mac n cheese which needed abit of salt and 6 pieces of plantain with LOADS of rice, I’m still lost at the one lamb chop. I’d say for 3 sides this should be priced at at least £8.50. I would also suggest stating how man pieces of lamb chops would be added to the meal just so us customers get an idea of the amount of food we’d be getting . Good service though. Thanks
