Excellent food tonight. Great menu, with traditional Ghana dishes. Food came quickly and was delicious. Staff were friendly, punctual & really good. Well done. I can recommend kelwhele, red red & the light soup. Pipping hot packed with flavour. Nice seating and tables. Loved it
I wouldn't recommend or give any stars for this establishment. The meat was very questionable on when and how it was cooked, both chicken and other "meat" dish, which by the way, they only served 4 small pieces. There was no stew served with either dish and they would charge £1 for "extra".
The service was terrible, they weren't interested at all, we waited over 2 hours after being told the food was coming repetitively, who knows why it took so long as it wasn't fresh.
Whilst they blasted music, table and chairs were not as seen in the pictures. We bought and laid out our own table cloth.
They also overcharged us, we asked before we sat down if they were honoring the prices online - they said they would sort it out.. should've known by the vagueness.
I wouldn't go back, I wouldn't recommend.
It's a shame as I really enjoy Ghanian food, I have enjoyed it from other local restaurants and thought to give this one a try but I will not returning.
Nice GH food in East London
Affordable and tasty Ghanaian cuisine owned my Ghanaian family in Forest Gate. Food portion was plentiful. Nice ‘Ghana chop bar vibes’ inside with music and a TV. Very friendly waitress with a great smile throughout the visit. Takeaway options available to ! Tsofi was too nice !
Connies
Went here on a Sunday afternoon.
Overall the place was very nice and spacious, hidden a bit so much sure you look for the sign properly when locating.
Food- we sat down to eat and share stew and omotuo! Hmm the meat was chewy, could have been cooked longer but, seasoned very well and so was the fish. Not too much pepper and portion wise it was just enough.
We also got takeaway
- the waakye and meat was so tasty. I even had to look in the fridge to see if someone had packed some away for their lunch so I could eat it!
- The tilapia and fried yam was delicious too!
I used to like going to this restaurant as it was convenient for me since it was minutes on the Elizabeth and I felt the food tasted good. Infact I have been here countless times in the last few months. I was shocked when on my last visit a woman I had never seen scolded me for not greeting her first before attempting to make my order. She carried on making a fuss making subtle references to my conduct and character, for not saying “good evening”, until I turned around and left to avoid a confrontation.
Terribly awful service. I ordered kellewele but didn't get the peanuts to go with it. I called several times and every time I called someone different was on the phone. They told me that you have to order peanuts separately! This is the first time in my life ordering from a Ghanaian restaurant that I am being told I have to order peanuts separately to go with my kellewele... a dish that is supposed to come with the nuts! Then I was told that some people are allergic to peanuts- I'm sure if some people are allergic to peanuts- they wouldn't order kellewele as it is a dish that comes with peanuts! The customer service is absolutely awful, it's shocking. My first bad experience with a Ghanaian restaurant. When I called I was told I can get my refund, my card details was taken and everything.. well after an hour I check my account and no refund. So I called again and someone else on the phone is saying that I didn't order peanuts and next time I should. Again, I'm waiting for them to call me back as they said they need to speak to their boss. I never get a call back and I'm always the one to call time after time. I do not recommend this place and I won't be ordering from them again. Awful customer service from the staff and management. Such a shame.
The food tastes great but there's no atmosphere no music playing. They should be playing some hi life in the background to give the place some atmosphere.
There were only 4 of us and one guy at the back on his own.
It took over an hour and 20 minutes before any food came out (starters) and two hours for the rest of the food to come out.
There was one lady cooking I think and one young lady serving. They seemed to be getting a lot of online orders and the odd person coming in for collection.
The young lady was doing her best I'm sure that's why I still tipped her she was very apologetic and we could see it wasn't her fault but they need to get organised in there.
I can't imagine how they would have coped if the place was full.
Common items not available, all food microwaved and some coming out still cold. Better to get the very local dishes as anything generic like chicken or jollof was most likely pre made some days ago. One of the 2 people dining with me really enjoyed her local banku and okra though.
