Lovely little hotel, we could take our dog with us. Lovely room, and fab breakfast! We went in December. Lots of shops and pubs on the doorstep, and we visited Hardrow Force. The staff of the hotel were very friendly and accomodating. Will definately be back.
Upon arrival we had to go in to the board inn to find a member of staff to check us in. The young girl couldn’t find our room key and eventually found the master key to use. We followed her upstairs to the delux double room we had booked and there was already a guest staying in our room. We were given a different room which was a standard double/ pleasant enough but we had paid a higher rate for the delux. We were then informed that there wasn’t a cooked breakfast included as the website stated. The only option for breakfast was continental breakfast. We were told originally by staff at the board inn to order an evening meal on arrival but when we went there for a drink after checking in next door we were told no food was available in the evening. With more staff and better management this could be a very enjoyable stay but at the moment it’s not very good. No food and contradictions on website plus the price for one night stay is £140 so should include a cooked breakfast at least. Luckily we found availability for an evening meal at the fountain hotel but a lot of tourists were struggling to get food in the evening.
We were told recently taken over but that didn't make up for the disorganisation. Had to go to the pub next door to get the barmaid to let us in. She wasn't properly briefed as to which rooms we had and was too busy to explain anything. Breakfast was terrible. We expected a full cooked breakfast, and as detailed in the room info, but only continental available with low quality fare. If you wanted a boiled egg and toast you had to make them yourself. Same for coffee which was only instant in sachets. Talk about self-service! Rooms were ok in size but needed someone with a screwdriver to go round and fix things. Dust in a few corners. We all thought this place was really poor VFM.
Such a lovely hotel! Stayed as a couple with our little dog. Beautiful clean room. Lovely views. Breakfast was great! We are looking to stay again in the summer time. Plenty of things to see in Hawes. Visited Hardraw falls and Grassington too
Booked this hotel in good faith based on what was advertised . However beware as they do not offer what they say they do . On the adverts and in the welcome pack it states hot breakfast however this is not the case. They offer a poor man’s continental which is basic bread, pastry fruit and a couple of boiled eggs ( no meats or cheeses). Very poor indeed. The accommodation Israel is tired and dated and beds upgrades eg torn shower curtain hanging off, holes in wall , mold in shower , dirty light fittings , filthy extractor. Give the place a miss to avoid disappointment.
Visited 30th December- 1st January |When we first arrived the front door was locked which was not a good start. We returned an hour later after a stroll around the village to an unlocked door but an unfriendly welcome by the owners. They didn’t want to make conversation at all and couldn’t wait to get away from us. We were travelling with family so booked 2 rooms. We were given our keys and asked what time we wanted breakfast in an abrupt manner.|The rooms were clean but quite dated. There was tea and coffee in both rooms and an iron and ironing board in the cupboard of one room.|Breakfast was disappointing. We assumed it was a couple who ran the B&B the lady seemed to be the cook and gentleman waited on. It was very obvious he didn’t want to be there. There were cereals that you helped yourself to and then we were offered a cooked breakfast. One of our party asked for scrambled egg which was tutted at but she did get it. Two of the “Full English” breakfasts came without sausage and when we queried it we were again frowned upon and asked “did we really want them “ |Our overall opinion was that the couple really did not want to be there, which was really sad as it could be a fabulous little place.
Two twin rooms were booked last November. On arrival we were given two double rooms. Totally unacceptable for four ladies. No other options available (music festival in Hawes) so we ended up in Askrigg. We then discovered the owners had gone into liquidation. This was not explained on confirming the booking earlier in the week. Getting our deposit back is not looking hopefully. No hot cooked breakfast available.
