After having a fish and chip lunch (there were 4 of us) and then ice cream from the ice cream parlour next door I asked for 50p to be changed into 20ps and a 10p so I could visit the public toilets close by. They refused. Not good PR. We were warned from a local person that the people running this establishment were not good and we didn’t listen preferring to give them the benefit of the doubt. Sadly they were right.
Horrendous.
Stopped here for a bite to eat whilst visiting with our Children. What a mistake!
If you are looking for drastically overpriced poor quality food, dirty surroundings, rude, dismissive and disinterested staff then this is the place for you!
It’s like a real life comedy sketch. I was waiting for Ant and Dec to jump out and say it was all a huge wind up!
Whilst I completely understand the price increases in all aspects of food supply and preparation, £2.95 for a very small half filled box of extremely poor quality chips is an absolute disgrace.
The very poor quality half filled box of chips comes complete with one wooden two pronged fork, one sachet of very watery poor quality ketchup which contains enough red watery liquid to cover your thumbnail, if you want any additional sachets they are 20p!
I would strongly recommend to enhance your visit to an otherwise lovely area then visit an alternative eating establishment or take a packed lunch.
In this day and age there is no excuse whatsoever for the above other than greed.
Ps:The bins overflowing all over the place, empty food and drink containers left on the tables are also a classy touch.
Whoever owns this establishment could do with taking a minute to look at these reviews? There’s a pattern forming here, and it’s not a very good one either!
Avoid at all costs.
We ate there today which was ok but half an our later, we asked if they could change a fifty pence for 2 twenty pence pieces and a ten for the toilet behind their cabin and they said no! I couldn't believe it.
Great location, but that's the only positive part of our experience. Probably the worst chips we've ever tasted. We could excuse the prices given the seafront, tourist location, but the product was awful. Cannot recommend.
First off, the presentation of these fish n chips (I wish I had taken a proper photograph), was wonderfully classic. The scent wafting off the fresh fish and even fresher chips in a box, placed upon (clean) newspaper, laced with salt and vinegar was divine. Yet, being able to munch on said delicious food, listen to the sound of lapping waves, while staring out at the landscape of grey mist and fighting off black-headed gulls, it felt like true English perfection.
The staff were also really friendly and specific about their closing times, which helped my friend and I decide to eat their fresh goods sooner than later. We didn’t regret it.
Overall, great pitstop for classic English fish n chips. After which, you can stroll on over to the pier which was clouded on the day we visited, yet, somehow retained that sense of historic beauty as I stared at it with misted glasses.
Will return someday with more people for pebbles and fish and chips.
Visited Clevedon yesterday and had two great meals from the beach bar! Loved it!
Absolutely rank!!!! -
The Curry sauce had the consistency of cold tea and the stock being sold was stored on a pallet in the back of a van - unrefrigerated.....
What a joke.
4.95 for smaller then small chips and sausage.
There is no quality in the food at all. The chef there need to be replace with some one who know how to cook chips.
Chippy chips should be golden brown with a soft centre and not crunchy and a hard filling.
The sausage that come with it was so bad I just put it in the bin. Iceland has better sausage then this chippy.
