This is the restaurant to Attingham. I don't know if it is appropriate to mention it here. I was at another NT house a few weeks earlier, Baddesley Clinton, Solihull. In their restaurant, I had a large baked potato with a large portion of chilli bean stew. It was very tasty. I ordered the same meal at Attingham. The potato was about the same size. The skin was a little leathery compared to Baddesley. The stew was noticeable in smaller portions and not as well flavoured. I just thought if the menu was the same, the portion size and flavours would also be the same. Seems not to be the case. Also, I had a flapjack to follow at both places. Baddedley was perfect. Slightly soft, plenty of syrup and good flavour. Allingham flapjack was hard, dry, and flavour similar to eating raw porridge. Both places, the service and atmosphere were very good.
This is a national trust cafe at Attingham Park the house is beautiful and the cafe is stunning too. We sat in a cozy corner that the groom's would have once inhabited. A light lunch of spicy soup which was delicious but exactly which one escapes me. I was away in Shropshire fore my 55th birthday but hope to go again. Well worth the visit... ????
Surprisingly large inside and with plenty of seating outside too. Friendly staff and large serving area. Free self service tap water sink.
Wet and windy when we visited so a nice warm out of the wind place to have a cuppa and a piece of cake.
Kids said the cake was amazing, and the cuppa was lovely.
Next time I will take more money and opt for the light bite menu which looked very tempting.
Just a tad disappointed. I have been to the tea rooms on the park many times previously and never been disappointed by the quality of the food or the service of the staff, it has always been a very pleasant experience, but I cannot say the same for today. A partly incorrect menu and a seemingly vacant attitude from the staff led to a disorganised and unpleasant experience. To further dissapoint, the food didn't succeed in redeeming the visit, I ordered the soup which was quite frankly lack luster. Watery and flavourless with an uncessary blob of green oil and a peice of stale bread. This was followed by a a chocolate cookie, which to no suprise was very nice, however came with a side order of wasp. The iced mocha was also delicious and I can recommend, however the paper straw I received came folded in half from an entirely clenched (hopefully clean) fist. Overall not consistent to usual standards.
Great selection of teas, coffees and homemade cakes and scones. (Especially liked the shortcake!) ????.
Also plenty of cold drinks and light bites options for those wanting a little more than coffee and cake!
Plenty of space and plenty of tables and chairs. A range of hot and cold food and drinks. Large shop and secondhand book shop. Toilets are here too. A few water bowls about for the dogs
Great staff and excellent service, food in old buildings with outside seating.
