We're new to Newbury & still trying out new places & finding our favourites, I think it safe to say after one visit to Captain Cod we will be back. A warm friendly welcome, lovely service the entire time we were there & the quality of the food was excellent.
We all had the fish & chips, and couldn't fault them at all. However, we saw the burgers and we will definitely be back to try them at some point because they looked amazing!

Best fish in Newbury i would say in whole Berkshire , top notch service, masala/sinful fish is mind blowing.
Even their breakfast is to die for, rest you can see in the pictures, burger, wraps everything is delicious

Great lunchtime meal... A double chicken burger fries meal and a cod and chips meal... Both were excellent. Sat down in a booth and food came out quickly and was freshly cooked. Cod nd chips was one of the best fish and chips we've ever had. Portion size is generous too, and the staff really friendly... Thoroughly recommended!!!
Qais and Gul treat you like family, its a great place! They really care for their customers. Super fresh food! And tasty. Really good value. We return regularly. Check them out you will definitely go back.

Lovely, welcoming people and great service, as well as delicious fish and chips. I had the captain cod fish and chips and it was crispy and fresh with lovely chunky hot chips. I tried some of my friend's masala cod as well which was delicious with a lovely crisp and spicy coating - it's something I will definitely get for myself next time especially if I fancy something a little lighter than standard battered fish. I saw someones battered chicken pieces and burger coming out of the kitchen too and they looked really yummy so i definitely want to come back and try the rest of their menu. Altogether a lovely experience.
This is my favorite Fish and Chips place in England! Fish is always hot and fresh, never greasy the chips are crisp. The service is so friendly and personal. Try it for yourself!
