Exceptional! This was a slice of heaven for my fiancé and I. Stefan has built the most beautiful circle hut on one of the best views of all the Outer Hebrides on the Isle of Harris 10 minutes from Tarbert.
I honestly couldn't thank Stefan enough for building this dream hut, he got the fire going in the wood burner just before we arrived in a storm and the thought and detail he's catered to in this self-catered accommodation is exceptional. The chairs, the fire, the views, the kitchen, amenities, shower room and bed were all perfect. This was a 10/10 experience and one we will never forget. A perfect retreat and you've made us want to come back again. Each night Stefan put a fresh bag of logs out front our cabin door to keep the fire going during the stormy nights and the sunset and sunrise was breathtaking each night and day.
Stefan, you've built and created an outstanding dream home for holiday makers coming to Harris and Kat and I will definitely be back again in the future as this has been a slice of heaven for the both of us while we explore the islands.
Honestly from both of us, we can't thank you enough! Hopefully we'll get a chance to see your art gallery and try your cakes next time we're up in the summer months. A very big thank you for letting us enjoy your private hut once more and catering to everything from behind the scenes without ever even meeting you. I couldn't recommend this accommodation any higher, it out ranks all hotels on the island and even the mainland.
We'll see you again some day and all our best for a great new year!
We stayed in one of the Yurts owned by Stefan. It was very well kitted out, warm, peaceful and very clean with great views out towards Scalpay and the 'Golden road' on Harris. Tarbert is about 5 miles away, supermarket, bars, food etc and good location for visiting places. Only mention is a lot if places serving food are shut Wednesday and / or shut at 7pm so factor that into your planning. Some pictures are from West Harris (Sielebost beach) about 10 miles away...
Lovely little gallery with amazing views. Stunning photos of Harris. Really nice owner. Chatted away for an hour. Visit and take away a beautiful memory of Harris. Don't miss Mums Carrot cake
Delicious cakes and gorgeous canvases. We had a lovely time having a blueberry/almond cake with a coffee while wandering around looking at the beautiful photographs Stefan has taken locally.
We ended up getting two gorgeous big canvases and coasters/ postcards.
We felt it was excellent value and well priced for the high level skill at what he does. Set in self constructed eco cabins that in and of themselves are works of art.
If in Lewis or Harris you must go!
We stayed in the yurt with its amazing views and really comfortable bed. We lit the stove, and it kept us really warm overnight. Good clean facilities.
Lovely wee place to stop for a coffee. Beautiful images in the gallery and the owner even lit the fire for me when it was cold and raining outside.
As we headed towards Scalpay, we were lured by signs promising "yummy cakes" to head to the Caolas Gallery. It is a photography gallery with additional Harris Tweed goods - cushions and rugs made from plaited Harris Tweed. Coffee, tea and cakes are offered in exchange for a donation to a local charity. Cakes were delicious - a choice of 4 on the morning we visited. A local family business where we were delighted to purchase table mats and coasters made from some of the photographer's prints. Well worth a visit, but bring your wallet as you will be tempted!
This is a small and cosy place, an almost intimate experience - a nice cake, surrounded by nice photos and chatting with the photographer. Only improvement would be to serve a proper espresso instead of the filter coffee. Cheers!
