Cakes Today delivered without a fail for a last minute event that was thrown pretty much overnight. The service was perfect, I placed my order at 1am and in the morning I was contacted to confirm some details. Received everything with care in the afternoon, in time for the event and most importantly the cupcakes and cakesicles were delicious, so much so that they were gone within minutes !
There was a time when Cakes Today used to provide one of the tastiest Cakes but recently, something has happened to them and their service has gone from amazing to terrible, staff very unhelpful and nothing seems to be good about them. They couldn't solve a simple case and left me hanging dry. It's been one week since I called, messaged and even emailed them but nothing. They really don't care about their loyal customers because if they did, they would have tried to take my situation seriously. The person I spoke to on the phone regarding my issue kept avoiding me and giving me solutions such as vouchers but that's not gonna solve how I feel!! Absolutely disgusting behaviour and no professionalism whatsoever!! I am very disappointed and cannot believe they turned out like this. Received flowers that died within 2 days of delivery, literally 2 DAYS! P.S. You can see what they sent me to close the case asap ... This company only cares about making money than taking care of their customers!
ORDER 151352. If I could rate this cake a zero, I would. I placed an order for my birthday cake a day in advance...delivery was free. I wasn't present when the cake was delivered but when I saw the cake....firstly, the box it came in was not close, or sealed like most cakes delivered are. Secondly, the cake had slid from the delivery, it wasn't centered and one side of the cake was completely leaning onto the box which looked horrible when we took the box away to slice the cake. I had ordered a vegan cake due to my babys allergies and I specifically asked what the cake would be like....the person I spoke to guaranteed the cake would be so light and fluffy. This wasn't the case. As I cut into the cake, the writing was already leaking and didn't look fresh at all, but I could feel every hard layer as I cut into the cake. The layers were completely uneven and the cake itself was not even. You could see where they added a ton of cream just to fill the holes and flat sides. The overly cooked crusts was still on the cake. The sponge itself was anything but light and fluffy. It tasted like a very hard madeira cake that someone had baked at home. Honestly, I'm so disappointed with the company and their overpriced cakes. I paid Close to £47 for a 10" excuse of a cake that my 10 year old could do a better job of baking. If I could get my money back I would buy unfortunately I think this is how this company makes its money. Speaking to another friend of mine, she had the same experience. Horrible, hard, stale disgusting cake! I didnt even bring it home. Waste of my money and total let down for my birthday.
Great service! Order the cake late at night and they rang straight away for confirmation. The cake was delivered on time and packaged perfectly. We received the cake on Friday and didn't eat it until Sunday, it kept perfectly. It also tasted delicious!! I will definitely be using this service again!!
Cakes Today delivered what looked like a cake, yet inside was the most disgusting and flavourless, artificial foam sponge. It was translucent white ! Reminiscent of builder's foam! The company hide behind their T&Cs and state that "taste" is subjective. This was an expensive cake. I post these pictures so that everyone can see the quality of their product. The artificial flavours are still lingering in my mouth as an insidious reminder of those two slices we endured. I have offered to return the remainder to their Wembley offices so that they can share in the delight of such "subjective" taste. This is as bad as bad gets. AVOID THIS COMPANY ! They ruined a very special occasion with this culinary travesty - and worse of all they do not care.
Smarties was without colour, maybe it was frozen before, no idea, i couldn’t use it for my sons birthday, went to Asda in last minute before the party and bought one, i cant recommended this company. Awful looking Scrumptious Smarties Chocolate Cake, nothing like in picture on their website.
Going to update my review to be fair. Initially thought I got scammed and panicked. I had to report to Just Eat and contacted the restaurant themselves. They keep promising different delivery times that are never met. What's frustrating was, they marked my order as "delivered" even though I did not receive it. Out of panic, I ordered a new cake from The Eggfree Cake Box which is better btw.
Now, I ended up with 2 huge cakes which are so unnecessary because I tried to cancel and open an order dispute. Maybe Just Eat contacted them directly and reported the incident because they had to take a photo of my door number lol.
At the end of the day, they failed to deliver on time and failed to assure me since their support told me different things. For that reason, I still wouldn't recommend it.
If you can't deliver when you say you will deliver, please DO NOT ACCEPT THE ORDER AND MARK IT DELIVERED. It's completely unfair since this is a meaningful cake for us and I wasn't even sure if I was going to get my cake or not.
The cake itself is okay though. The icing tastes rich and it's spongy enough.

Ordered an Elsa frozen cake for a birthday in my family all us love it.Nice vanilla sponge with butterscotch cream freshly made.
Customer service very polite and recommended me this flavour.
Will never go anywhere else from now on!
