It's been an absolutely horrible experience with Burtons. They were helping me with buying a property and handled the case very casually and I would recommend going for someone else but them if you are like me, a first-time buyer, with limited knowledge about dealing with solicitors and asking all the right questions. They did worse than the bare minimum and had I not consulted some more experienced friends and family members, I'd have been totally battered. I'll list a few things here:
- They put some paralegal on our case who delayed everything to the point where I was about to lose the property
- The entire time it felt like they just wanted money and had no desire to do any real work
- There were points when I expected my solicitor to guide me and work in my best interest but they just did the least amount of work
I can go into more details but it was such a harrowing experience that I'm just appalled and I usually don't write reviews but in this case I am compelled to write this because they do have great online reviews, and that is exactly the reason I went for them. But if I were to rate my experience with them, I would say minus 10 rather than zero. They were the worst service experience I've had in my entire life.

Thought I would support a local business - big mistake. Shockingly bad service dealing with my late father's estate. Have had a number of very serious errors which they don''t seem to care about at all. Have caused me untold emotional distress. Have now complained to the Law Ombudsman. Avoid at all costs.
Burtons Solicitors have been dreadful 11 months to deal with two grandchildren’s inheritance and even their complaints department ignores you. I wouldn’t trust them with any of my financial affairs no duty of care to their clients. Yet to receive any help or update to a straight forward case. Ombudsman are now being consulted and my solicitor. Not even a reply to a email yet holding my Children’s inheritance.
Dawn at Burtons in Pembury helped us to complete our wills. Neither of us had any experience doing this before and so it was all new to us. However, nothing was too much trouble for her and various alterations were made and ready for us to sign at the agreed time. I would recommend the service. Thank you.
