The stay was great for one night. The apartment had everything that we needed which was great. The only other issue was the pull out couch is a bit uncomfortable.
Really enjoyed my stay, even though it was only one night, we received a warm welcome. The room was clean, not to mention stuffed fridge, some sweets, fresh bread and milk! Absolutely nothing to complain about, recommended!
We were disappointed with our stay at Burntree house in August this year and we really aren’t fussy people at all normally so wouldn’t say that in a review easily. ||The property itself was clean and well maintained and we had no issues with that however I feel we were hugely misled in regards to the services we were receiving by the owners. ||Obviously booking a Bed and Breakfast you assume that would include breakfast especially after reading all the wonderful reviews of how delicious the food was which was mainly why we chose to stay here! However, when we arrived the owners were not present, their daughter let us in which was fair enough but at no point the whole evening did anyone make any attempt to welcome or speak to us after that and it actually felt as though we were being avoided. ||I assumed they were just busy so called the next morning at 8am to ask what time breakfast was and was hugely disappointed with the owners response which was ‘we aren’t doing breakfasts right now. It doesn’t say anywhere that we are.’ ||I responded with ‘well the opposite is true in that it doesn’t say anywhere that you’re not and in fact all the reviews and photos of your house have pictures of the dining area and reviews of food and even when I booked I was given absolutely no info on the fact that you were not serving food.’ ||The owner did say they weren’t serving food due to the coronavirus situation and while I find that a bit convenient at this stage when there are now many legal ways around still being able to now serve food safely, I even would have totally understood that and been happy enough with that info if I had been told BEFORE we paid full price and arrived! ||We hardly had any dealings with the owners who I feel dodged us the whole time and knew they had ripped us off. In my opinion, withholding information is as good as lying and I wouldn’t return out of principle. ||Georgie Shinnie
Dad and I stayed in the new self catering apartment which was lovely. A modern well designed and very peaceful space in a lovely area of Scotland. Hosts were very friendly and helpful and there was a beautiful view. There is also good walks a from the apartment and Ben Nevis was reachable from here. Would definitely go again
Booked here for 6 nights to watch some of the ssdt's. It is up a hill but this means you are away from the busy town centre and it is so peaceful and quiet. The breakfast is well organised and a great selection to choose from. The full fry, porridge and brown bread was of very good quality. Florence and Adam made us feel very welcome and they do provide an exceptional service.
We were pleasantly surprised with this b & b. Beautiful setting, cozy home with well furnished room. We had the loft with amazing views of the countryside. The owners were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Definitely recommend staying here!
Having read previous reviews we were expecting an excellent standard of room and hospitality. Room (1) looked faded and sad. The carpet was very stained and sheets and covers were stained and worn. The bathroom looked fresh and clean, though the shower screen leaked and its temperature control was wrongly fitted, so you could scald yourself if not careful. It looks from the photos that the bedroom decor was new 10 years ago and everything has worn out over time. When we spoke to the owners about this, they said they always renew everything at the end of the season, so perhaps this will improve. Adam had suggested places to eat, so we tried the Ben Nevis Inn which had a great atmosphere and we would recommend the music session which is on Tuesday nights and was lots of fun.
The owner is very unfriendly. She does not allow guests to eat food in their own room. That's fine. When I was down there in the small squeezy dining room, I asked her where I can wash my hands. She told me I have to go back up stairs wash in my own room because that's the only thing I paid for.
And her Scottish breakfast is one of the worst I have eaten. My travel companions and I usually eat a lot. This is the only time none of us can finish the little serving we had because it was so face-palm bad.
The room is very small stuffed with beds. If you lay out your luggage you won't even have space to walk around. And surprisingly, it's the most expensive hostel I have stayed in Scotland so far. And the rest of my hostels are actually those entire apartment Airbnb not just 1 room.
