Absolutely amazing food! Only found the place by chance, but worth every penny! Kept entertained by 2 old codgers, who were swopping war stories, but kept forgetting what they were talking abt!
It has a lovely old world feel and charm to the place. Not many pubs like this still exist, but sadly the food and drinks could do with an overhaul. Whereas the pub exudes charm the drinks are stuck in the 80s, as sadly is the food. Plus there's no phone reception or WiFi available. This place seems dated compared to all the pubs that surround it. Great if that's what you want, but there are some amazing new breweries springing up. Hopefully they can tap into that market? ****Update**** still no phone reception, which is vaguely understandable, but to still have no WiFi a year later is almost inexcusable. There is no data available in 2024.
A traditional quiet pub nestled off the beaten track. Popped in for a bite to eat & a pint to wash it down & was not disappointed.
Lovely home cooking, very flexible, comfortable seating, relaxing, range of Ales and wine
I have not rated the food as I only popped in for a drink. Lovely quiet pub. Pleasant staff and backs onto lovely area for a walk if you're into that. Really nice chilled out place to have a quiet drink. Not pretentious and not loud. Cozy and cute. Thank you.
I also just came in by chance on the wet May bank holiday Monday after walking the dog. She and I were both made very welcome. If you cannot survive for 2 hours without WiFi then this isn’t the pub for you. If you want the atmosphere of a National Trust gift shop and smart looking food then you’re better off going up the road to the packed out Onslow Arms. But if you like actually having a conversation with people you haven’t met before, good no nonsense home cooked food, and the best pint of Shere Drop outside the brewery, then I can thoroughly recommend it. Nice garden out back as well.
Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, many of the other guests seemed regulars. And such a beautiful ambiance, feels like time has stopped! The menu features pub favourites, but with some very interesting twists. We loved our mains, and had to get pudding, which was also very good. We'll be back!
What a shame this great old pub has gone to the dogs! Empty at lunch time but then I’m not surprised at £8.95 for a sandwich is a rip off. I was a regular before I moved out of the area but popped in whilst in the area. Shame on you to destroy good business
