I used to sing their praises but things feel like they are going downhill at Brookside Garage after years of being faithful..! Got a full service on my car paying £500 for quite a few things to be updated before the MOT in a couple month, nothing major at all. There were no issues with the car just trying to look after it.
A couple months later, car failed MOT due to headlights angle and rear brakes needing replacing.. No problem, another £400 spent as needed someone to come out and replace rear nuts which I didn't have the right lock for and including MOT but SOMEHOW the car came back to me with the left indicators coming on when I brake and the back left brake light flashing when I indicate..
HOW DID IT PASS ITS MOT?? How did these somehow get mixed up!? Not sure it was worth the £900 in a few months but when we call to notify, no callback as promised. Also, light cap for headlight now missing and had to place internal covers/caps in place after all this 'work'..!
I feel like I've been taken advantage of..!
But not to worry, I found a much better place thanks to being put off, I recommend Cottage Street Garage..!! These guys are truly switched on!!
Shame though as I always try support local business and they have lost that, hope they sort out things but I will not be returning..!
Wouldn’t recommend using this garage. Took my car for MOT which it failed but the reasons they failed it on was the headlights were to low which was incorrect as took the car to 3 different garages to get there opinion, and they all said there is no issue with them. Also failed on indicator lights not being orange enough? Which no other mechanic in the north west has ever heard of a ridiculous thing like that. Got them changed regardless and they were also perfectly fine. So who ever carries out MOT needs to either go to specsavers or stop making up ridiculous reasons to fail you. I have recently got the repairs done and tried to contact them back for a free MOT as it’s within the 10 days and they will not answer the phone. SHOCK.
Wow, Finally a Trust worthy garage were everything was checked to an extremely high standard. We would Highly recommend Brookside as they even found 2 dangerous faults the previous garage missed!!! Made me feel safe about are car. Seriously guys 5***** all the way.
Professional, friendly, and honest. Fixed my car multiple times and got it through its MOT for several years. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Nice one

I just had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Lynne at Brookside, and whilst they were very busy next week with no availability for me, she took my number and rang around other local test centres and called me back when she found someone! I am very pleased with them. They have located oil leak in my car and fixed a problem. I had to replace crankshaft seal. They recommended me to change clutch to save money on labour in the future. Professional and friendly service.
Reliable, friendly, informative staff, excellent service and went above and beyond, can't thank them enough. Very kind and took the time to explain everything. Ladies if you need a trust worthy garage, this is the place!!
