After a long walk from Carlisle, and having passed no pubs we arrived at the pub and it was closed… but not for long. Having spotted our obvious distress, the landlord offered to open up for us.
The family were friendly and welcoming, the drinks were welcome, and we probably stayed too long. Perfect
We found the publican very friendly opened early. Good selection of drinks and crisps. Pool & darts. Will return if in the area. As not many pubs in this area. So great to find a 5 star pub!

After two long days of walking the Hadrians Wall Path we stopped here for a pint and to rest our legs. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend!
Always made to feel welcome and one of very few "proper pubs" left
Stopped in for a drink on our walk, pleasant. Nice little garden to sit in out back.
A wee bit dark inside but the landlady and landlord are so friendly and helpful great atmosphere and good grub too !
