Lovely old pub with friendly locals and fabulous staff.
Even has a pool table which was an added bonus.
Drinks were alot cheaper than expected for a rural pub.
Traditional village pub in Herefordshire. Reasonable amount of parking and very dog friendly. It was a cold day but there was a nice fire to warm the public bar. There is also a separate restaurant area. The food was great although we stuck to bar snacks as we were just passing through. There was a group of local gentlemen who seemed to know each other well and were enjoying a relaxed conversation over a pint or two. The building is very old.
Lovely home cooked proper pub food. Gammon steak and scampi were delicious. 14th century pub with bags of character, well worth a visit.
Quintessential traditional village pub, serving great ales and food. A pint of Butcombe accompanied by a traditional roast beef dinner, in an atmospheric country pub is in my opinion the perfect way to spend a Sunday lunchtime ????
A piece of Herefordshire Pub History, also look up the The Bridge at Michaelchurch, but lunch time only if you want the sun, you can sit with the front door at your back and have the sun go from one side of the car park to the other, the true sign of a proper drinking pub.
As you enter the property, Bar on the right, dining room on your left, complete with 1970’s decor and a food menu to match
The bar is reputed to have been an influence on the set design of the film ‘American Werewolf in London’
Civil War Musket Ball holes on display in the dining room, complete with fire place.
I particularly like the rusty sign at the front, it’s a subliminal message for sensitive drinkers and over demanding people to stay away, but once you have ventured in you will become part of the Black Swan family
Nice off the beaten track pub. We didn't have food, but the beer was good and affordable. The staff and locals were all very friendly. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
Absolutely shocking, I got there around half 6 was told the food wasn’t served until about 7, which wasn’t a problem, so had a drink and game of pool while I waited, then ordered a sirloin steak and it came as though it had been cooked in a kettle, I think they must have seasoned it before it got to the abattoir, bland and almost bent the fork before it went in, took two bites and asked for the bill, they never even asked if I was happy, they just took my money, hate complaining in anywhere but was expecting them to ask as id had almost none of it but they didn’t seem to care, would seriously avoid if possible, had to re buy my dinner at another pub down the road and it didn’t even compare from the food quality to the service quality, worlds apart. Would avoid if possible.
Incredible steak pie and super friendly staff! A delightful olde English pub worthy of the long walk to get to it.
