Great dog friendly bar , eatery and events venue, superb building and grounds.
Vegan friendly choices included on main menu for all to enjoy, proper food and excellent service, will go again ❤️
Probably the best country pub we have ever visited. Staff friendly and nice cosy atmosphere. The log fire was burning which added to the ambience. Food excellent. Husband had steak and ale pie which he really enjoyed and I had sea bass with pesto tagliatelle, followed by yummy ???? syrup pudding.
It had been a couple of years since we last went here.Went for lunch today with wife and grandson . It was a carvery service today, and we all had something different, and we all enjoyed the food. The wife and grandson shared a sorbet, and found that to be delicious. It was quiet when we arrived at 12.20pm but the place soon filled up. Highly recommended.
Went for lunch today. Long wait for lunch as there was a wedding party in, however it was lovely to sit in the garden enjoying the sun. Husband had the mixed grill which he really enjoyed, I had the halibut which was cooked beautifully.
Would highly reccomend this place and we will be going again.
Very disappointed with the food. Booked a table three weeks ago. Saying that one carvery was gluten free. They bought out my roast dinner and said they have no gravy. The chef said he could make a tomato based sauce. To go with roast dinner I don't think so.
Only the second time we have visited The Black Horse and on both occasions have found it warm, welcoming and friendly. Today we had an exceptional Sunday roast lamb dinner at a very reasonable price with a good selection of fresh veg and extra gravy. Pudding was a very rich and very scrummy chocolate pud. Will certainly revisit in the future.
We went for lunch and I have never been quite so disappointed over a pub meal before. I know that this was the first day that they were open for food for a period of time, but the service was chaotic, disorganised, rushed at times then infuriatingly slow at others. The staff seemed friendly enough, but I am not sure they really knew what was going on.
The lunch menu, of which there were only three options; roast beef, chicken and a vegetarian pasta bake. Our table had all of this and everything seemed to be either over cooked (meat) or under done (veg). when we asked for mustard or horse radish sauce we were met with slightly surprised expressions. At 10.95 a plate I thought this was overpriced and sub-standard, not what is the minimum one expects in 2019. Actually if they had served prawn cocktail as a starter and angel delight for pudding then we could have been back in 70s!
I don't normally do reviews but this had to be posted; unless the management can sort our the basics I can't see this place lasting beyond the summer.
Just returned from a very pleasant Saturday lunch. The Staff were welcoming and the Inn was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. The food we ordered was delicious and the portions were very generous. Definitely worth a visit.
