Stayed here for a weekend and it was the worst stay i have ever had in any hotel. Music from the pub blasting out until midnight then you can here people walking up and down corridor all night to the bathroom as not all rooms have ensuits, |The walls are so thin you can hear everyone talking in there rooms like a bloke next door to us had 9 phone calls from 3am to 530am and we could hear him and the person on the other end of phone.|When people go to toilet you can hear pipes bangging.|The family room is dirty, shower no pressure and radiator in bathroom dont work, |Only good thing is its location.
We stayed for one night, for a friend’s party in nearby Clifton. Though the room was spacious, it was extremely dated and tired looking. Our door did not shut properly. The bed was comfortable. No hairdryer in the room.
The bathroom was absolutely awful. Tiny…almost like a tiny pantry. The toilet was loose, the whole pan was almost lifting from the floor. The shower tray was filthy, as was the shower curtain. We both refused to shower there, due to how bad it was. There was a vent in the bathroom which we could not switch off at all, resulting in a very bad night’s sleep. There were 2 towels in the room, which were not even bath sized….no hang towels at all.
We raised these issues with a member of staff, and were approached on check out by a manager, who said she would look into the issues. There is no way on earth that toilet had come away overnight, nor had that shower been cleaned in weeks, it looked like.
The pub itself was very rough and rowdy, with people swearing and shouting at the top of their voices.
I have no problem with cheaper accommodation, but this was ridiculous. £78 for one night’s stay…to be honest, I don’t think I would even have paid £8.
Sorry, Bird in Hand, but basic cleanliness and a lockable door is the very LEAST one can expect. Will not be returning.
Nestled in the heart of the serene English countryside, this charming inn is a hidden treasure. While it's a tad off the beaten path from the bustling metropolises, it's worth the journey. Went to this place recently for a drink with my wife, the place was full of drunks. The interior was absolutely horrible and I could smell a stale damp smell coming from the place. The customers where shouting and swearing at the tops of thier voices . I definitely would not recommend. We ended up there because my wife's sister has recently got married and moved to the area.we only staid there for 20 minutes then fastly got up and left .
This is without doubt the worst accommodation I have ever found from booking .com. The premises from the car park to the room offered are the dirtiest, worst kept I have seen. The area around the entrance was littered with cigarette butts that had amassed over a long time. Inside to the bar the staff were unable to find the booking, I presented a copy, " Oh we have it in your fist name"? I was then asked to pay, I declined and asked to view to room, I was led upstairs though a filthy hallway and stairs with large damp stains on the carpet and rainwater running down the inside of a window. Arrived at the room to find a double bed and a single bed, I I had a booking for a family room consisting of a double a two singles. It was then I decided. this was not the place for me, I asked the staff for a refund which after contacting the manager by phone was promised. I the contacted Booking.com by phone, via the Philippines and expressed my displeasure.
It's managed to get worse! The BNB is now a House of Multiple Occupancy. It's only a step away from a Bail hostel. The beers poor at best. Please avoid. The landlord is even pleased when you leave. I would tell you about the poor state of the toilets but hey... find out yourself if you like. The Burger van outside gave a friend a bad tummy as well.
I would have gone and slept in my van but it was blocked in because the car park is too small.
Been in Stondon 4 years. Have visited the Bird in Hand several times each time had a bad experience. Went there tonight with some American relatives and again no food available and the bar was full of drunks. Don't advise anyone to go there.
