Some nice views and the carpark is right on the south downs way walk with walks in every direction. Very steep hill to drive up but fairly easy walking when you get up there. Worth a visit and a nice place to have a picnic though there are no tables or bins.
Great destination for a walk on the South Downs. Bit of a bumpy road to get to the car park but has some great walks and lovely views.
Great spot for astronomy! We came here on the 6th of March and enjoyed some great dark and clear skies. The drive up is a bit steep but take it slow and you’ll be fine. Will revisit soon!
Nice walk, decided to make our own trail as AA book of walks weren’t signed property. Started south down walk towards burton. Roman villa weren’t open due to COVID and not much to look at through the gates. The surrounding houses were nice with well kept thatched roofs and the locals were lovely.
There is very little cover at the top of the hill which makes it feel much colder, suggest wearing warm clothing and walking boots as some walking routes take you through muddy fields.
Prefect for dogs as wide open fields but lots of sheep around.
Saw red kites and other birds along with lots of interesting plants as well wild garlic.
Burton hill car park is free but the other road up to it has many pot holes.
Ideal place to park up and start your South Down walk. It's quite a drive, climbing up a steep, narrow, rutted road...at least a mile...but it'll save your legs if you're old like me. There's no facilities here and no charges either. We headed west from the car park to Duncton hill, then on to Linch Down. Great walk, great day and the car was all on its own when we got back.
