Parked here for Bodmin jail opposite.Worst car park in a while. Could not pay cash and none of the usual parking apps. Had to download some buggy junk I’ve never heard of which was full of endless boxes to fill. Could not use apple or google pay. When I did manage to enter details it automatically signed me up for one hour! When I wanted more but couldn’t alter it. Had to add more time an hour later. If I could give minus star I would. I have now deleted that unknown app. Wish I’d spent 5 mins looking out on road as was space. Another car park 500yards away offering 60p per hour. I ended up paying over £5 by the time the app sneakily added text reminders etc etc. Most of car park was fenced off, looked like not very secure plus a very steep ramp/bridge on entering so if your car is lowered forget it!! AVOID!!
BEWARE the ANPR!! Arrived at 10.50. followed into the car park by vehicle from another family member as we were visiting the Bodmin Jail all together. I had a disabled passenger and so did the other vehicle. We waited and assisted them to assemble their disability buggy then paid for our parking. Confusing charging signs, appeared to only allow 3 hours max parking. Paid to park @ 11.01. Visited the Jail, stopped for some lunch in the Jolly Hangman. Had to wait ages for our food so the children didn't have time to get their desserts which were included in their meal deal. Rushed back to the car in time, but again spent time dismantling the disability buggy and getting everyone into the cars, which meant we didn't leave the car park until 14.14. just received a fine! Disgusted.
UPDATE 17.08.21: Appealed against the fine on the above grounds. Appeal not allowed. Even more disgusted. Has really detracted from our overall enjoyment of our visit to the Bodmin Jail. Does anyone pull into a car park and pay for their ticket immediately? I doubt it; everyone gets out of their car and sorts themselves out then gets the ticket. And, you are usually allowed 10 minutes 'grace'. Parking Eye who run the car park have sadly failed to impress me. PLEASE be careful in this car park.
I would do worse than 1 star if possible parked here in august to visit Bodmin jail
First Misleading signs I believed I was parking for 3-4 hours as did the others I was travelling with. Stopped for lunch in the jolly hangman and returned after just after 3 hours.
In October almost 3 months later I got a parking ticket which I appealed I failed the appeal and went through popla with all my evidence. And parking eye was still sided with. Now they are threatening to take me to court and issue CCJs if o do not pay when it’s there signs that are misleading.
Parking eye are a joke of a company ripping people off as clearly seen on the reviews on here and there is no one you can even speak to !!! Avoid avoid avoid
managed by Parking Eye, machines not working, payment by phone not working appeals pointless. This car park is making lots of money by ripping off the public who try and use it legally. The appeal system is so floored and the immoral company rely on the public giving up even though cancellation would be justified and evidence supplied
We arrived at the car park with friends following behind us we both parked no problem. We got back to the car park after 3 of hours at the jail. Typed in reg number & was told to pay £1.50
We paid for this by bank card. A week later we both got a letter saying that we hadn’t payed correct tariff!!
We paid what the machine told us!!
We appealed but it was unsuccessful now we have to pay £60 with no fault of our own
They are robbers. Maybe they should be in the jail. AVOID THIS CARPARK
This must be one of the only machines that you cannot use your card or pay online.
I am registered disabled. Sign states Blue badge holders terms and conditions apply.
Is that terms and conditions if the blue badge or car park?
DO NOT PARK HERE! Paid for 3 hours parking and were 7 minutes over due to crowds and slow service in restaurant. Appeals to Parking Eye and POPLA rejected even though we could clearly show that they had not allowed us the 10 minutes grace period as per BPA Code of Practice. £100 fine which we will now challenge in court.
ParkingEye discriminate against disabled people. Parking limited with insufficient time to get around the Bodmin jail and have lunch at the Bodmin Jail restaurant, which under Covid requirements means it takes much longer to get seated and served. Despite paying full amount for parking and making an appeal with evidence, the appeal was denied. Doesn't even seem that they evaluated the evidence at all, just wrote a standard reply. Wheelchair users need slightly more time to get in and out of cars and tourist attractions. Shocked by the poor appeals process and lack of understanding.
