The food is quite good and the young lady server was polite but that is where the positive ends.
The restaurant is like a greasy spoon cafe, it does not have an alcohol license which is odd.... you have to take your own. The menu is fairly limited but you will still find something acceptable.
There is a third positive and that is the prices are reasonable.
If I lived in this locality I would find a better Indian restaurant.
Expensive, poor quality and bland food. The service is poor and the atmosphere is, frankly, depressing. I've tried the restaurant 3 times and the last time I ate here was as part of a group of 12. We waited over 2 hours for our meals - with no-one else in the restaurant and no-one coming to collect takeaway orders. We were then told that in future we should order in advance! You're better off going to Bude for a decent Indian meal.
We did not stay to eat after pappadoms. The owner was completely drunk and smelt of alcohol. She crowded us and made us feel very uncomfortable. The pappadoms tasted soft and old, the chutneys were lacklustre. I did not drink my orange juice as it was cloudy and milky in colour. None of this convinced us that the main food would be edible. Cannot understand how this is a recommended restaurant.
Absolutely terrible!! 7 of us went for a meal...service was awful, unprofessional and miserable. Food was pretty good but then when we went to pay the bill, it was all jotted down on paper and punched in on a calculator...owner said she would "prefer" cash!!...but when we queried our bill and spent 10 minutes adding it up ourselves we found she'd overcharged us by £60!!! No apology whatsoever! Needs an absolute makeover and staff who don't make you feel like you're an inconvenience! Will not be returning.
After being seriously unimpressed by the Indian restaurants for a takeaway in bude,I drove the 15 mins to holsworthy to try this as a last resort.I'm so pleased I did.The vindaloo really is to die for,the onion bhajis were nice, the sag paneer was incredibly tasty(if a tiny bit too oily, but easily drained),the keema naan was lovely AND the portion sizes are extremely generous.
Despite the tired exterior and dated interior,it is extremely clean and the kitchen which can be seen while ordering is meticulously spotless.
I visit Cornwall 6 times a year from east London where Indian restaurants are plentiful and I can honestly say I start salivating for my vindaloo as soon as I drive past Tower bridge.
My compliments to the chef...
Was pretty quite when we went in, ordered takeaway. 10% discount on orders over £10 was a plesant suprise. Food was nice, plenty too, and still good and hot when arrived home 6 miles away.
Only revpmmendation was cut down on oil used.
Overall good takeaway, resteraunt is in need of modernisation.
If your idea of a curry is loads of sauce and a few lumps of meat, it will be fine. I cannot imagine it has been anywhere near an Asian cook. The food is not good, and vastly overpriced for what it is.
Fantastic food and friendly staff. If you are on holiday like I was and feel like a good curry... Unbeatable. Cash discount too!! If/when I come back will eat here for sure.
