It’s fine to bed down for the night. The room is spacious, but basic. The advantage is that it’s dog friendly. We were somewhat disturbed when a group of kids were deliberately walking past our window and throwing stones inside. We told them to stay away, but they were hanging around for hours. Their parents maybe inside the pub whilst these kids played outside.
It put us off going into the pub for a meal, and instead got a takeaway from the local Chinese.
There’s parking outside our room, but it’s shared with the pub patrons.
Visited for a family birthday. We were a party of 30. Meals were delicious, however we waited 19 minutes after other family members for our food, also staff continually stood at open door chatting which made our table very cold. The ambiance if the dinning area is very nice.
We went for a meal Saturday night (6 of us), not great overall, however the food was basic but pretty good. The sports bar was like a creche but good to watch the end of the match. Quite a nice restaurant but lacking any sort of supervision, the waitresses tried and we tipped them. We asked for Chardonnay and was told they had none ? so we asked for Prosecco and was told they had none ? so we asked for house white and was given a glass to try but the girl never returned LOL. Oh come on this is supposed to be a restaurant. We ordered steak and this was done correctly and a nice cut. We ordered surf and turf kebab skewers, this came without skewers ??. This could be so much better with a little care and attention, and a little staff training.
Has the management given up or has this just been took over ? Left 3 stars and think this is a fair grading based on the experience. I am always willing to take down reviews if the owners ask. Oh sorry I forgot to say it was all reasonably priced.
Had Sunday lunch here and the food is superb. Would definitely recommend booking prior as it is always busy.
Hidden Gem , from walking in everyone so friendly , ordered food it came fast fresh totally delicious, scampi double fried chips and salad was delicious proper scampi , burger was too ordered onion rings to share they where fabulous, definitely will be visiting again ????
We stayed here for one night as we were at a sporting event nearby.||Room 5 looked good on first impressions with everything we need for a one night stay. Plenty of towels, shower, TV, comfy bed, plenty of tea/coffee and even sachets of hot chocolate.|(No WiFi but wasn't an issue for the amount of time we were there)||However.....I found out the next morning that the shower was broken. When you turn it on most of the water streams out from underneath the unit on the wall (not where the pipe is connected but strangely next to it). It meant barely any water coming out of the shower head, and what did come out was cold!|I was not able to have a shower which after spending all day at a sports event (and again the next day) was very unsatisfactory.|Regardless of the room itself or the food sleeping and showering are the most important aspects of any hotel room and that is why I had to give the poor rating.|(Not sure how the cleaning staff didn't notice the shower issue?)||We had dinner in the restaurant last night which was ok.|I had the burger which on the menu just said 'burger'. Bit confusing not even knowing what it came with. I had to ask if it had cheese, but the bacon was a surprise as I wasn't expecting it.|The meat was ok, nothing special and the bun was nice. ||My wife had the fish and chips.|The fish was terrible. So very overcooked and not pleasant to eat.||Both meals came with chips that were actually really good. Very very very greasy but soft and lovely tasting.||The other strange things was how long it took for our food to come. There were other tables near us that we know ordered ages after us but got their food a long before us. ||When we left our room to check out at 7:45 this morning there was no one around and the door to the inside bar area was locked.|I had to walk round to the front door and give my key to a random man who was setting up outside (maybe a cleaner?) but worried that if the key went missing I would be blamed for not checking out.|Maybe need some process for where keys can be left when checking out if no staff are around?||I had to try a few times to get through this morning just to check that they had received the key for the room from the person I gave it to.|I also mentioned the shower not working but didn't get much of an apology.||Really sorry to say, but we wouldn't stay here again and wouldn't choose to eat here either, and I definitely can't recommend.
We were gifted a stay as a wedding present. The room was wonderful and the food even better!! My husband and I took our two dogs and they had a great time. We'll definitely be staying again. Service and staff are first class. Highly recommended.
Great place to eat... Massive portions... Great prices... Loved everything... The girls who served us were excellent... Thoughrally enjoyed the evening out.. Thank you
