Got takeaway, so can't comment on atmosphere.Pies are yummy with good mince inside ,mash is good and plentiful, liquor is lovely and plenty of it .Great to have a good pie and mash ,now that mainze is gone .
Had pie mash here a few times. Was really lovely pies bang on. Small little shop but comfortable seating. Lovely service from owner. Definitely give this a try. Loved it.
Me and four others visited yesterday for the first time. The pie, mash and liquor were all excellent. The mugs of tea were also great. The guy running the place was friendly and efficient. The surroundings were basic, as you'd expect with a pie and mash shop. Glad to say it was spotlessly clean, including the loo.I thoroughly recommend this place and will be back.

Don’t discount Barneys as a newer player on the pie & mash scene, the shop has plenty of old school atmosphere and Tom is super friendly. He’s passionate about what he does and happy to talk about his process.
The pies themselves are great with glossy gravy and high quality mince. We love that the chilli vinegar has an actual kick to it.
Great before or after a walk on the marshes, especially in the cold weather. Feel lucky to have it nearby!
Didn't have time to sit and eat as I was on a rush visit to the UK but I really did want my veggie pies. Managed to get the frozen pies securely packed in thin thermal envelopes (3 to a pie) and after 8 hrs journey from UK to DK put them in my own freezer for later. If you want something enough you find a way to do it. So glad I found Barney's after Manzes closed down. Looking forward to the next trip and more pies and a chat with Tom
Living in Germany it's not easy getting a P&M as you can imagine.
So whenever we're over it's always a must to get one!
It was Barney's that popped up on google maps, and the 4.9 rewiew rating was why we decided to go.
Parking is difficult, but Barney -who was really friendly-, gave us a tip on where to park.
Compared to many P&M Shops Barney's is quite small and is decked out with more conventional tables and chairs.
Three kinds of vinegar including a very spicy chilly vinegar???? ????, my favorite, salt and pepper were on every table, and Barney's unusually has a WC that was exceptionally clean...
Barney is chatty and enthusiasticly explained to us why he didn't have the classic tables and pews seating...but you'll have to ask him that question yourselves.

It was so good we took another 2 x Double everythings to go, plus a portion of jellied eels.
Value for money. Very good.

Sorry barneys but having visited over 40 pie and mash shops since retirement you may not be aware but there are a large amount of shops which have far better tasting pie and mash . The pie was tasty but nothing special , the mash was dry and tasteless and the liquor was not authentic going by taste and colour . This is constructive criticism and nothing personal , so I hope it is taken in the right manner
