This is long but required for true detailed feedback.
So I had a midwife appointment today (1.5.24) at Aston Pride to weigh my baby to ensure she maintained a good weight. I tried to call all morning (up until I had to actually attend my appointment at 1430) to let them know that the health visitor actually came to visit me yesterday (30.4.24) and has already weighed my baby.
I wanted to call to ask if I was still required to attend as that slot could have been utilised for someone else (and it would save me a journey with a 3 weeks old baby). No one answered the phone, infact, it never rang indicating to me that the line could potentially be out of use.
When I ring the number, it cuts off/hangs up straight away, this was very frustrating. I have attempted very often to no avail.
I honestly felt that the receptionist had unplugged the phone, therefore when I arrived for my appointment, I decided to ring the number to witness whether the phone rang or not. It didn’t. My thoughts still stands that I honestly think the receiptionist unplugged the phone. I just want to express that I indeed had the correct number so it wasnt a error on my part.
The midwife was pleasant and inform me that I didn’t really have to attend this appointment as my baby was already weighed yesterday which was a little annoying. I am now luckily discharged from this health center. - I still attended today as felt responsible to still arrive.
As a staff nurse myself, I found this appalling on the receptionist part and I honestly feel sorry for those who has to try and make contact with this health center.
Quick note:
I did not have a text message or a letter to inform me of my very first appointment at Aston Pride to see the midwife. The receptionist called me the day before to let me know. Initially I thought the call was a scam as the receptionist was not understandable. I eventually realised he asked me if I had a appointment with them. I refused to give him any of my details as I honestly thought the phone call was a scam. I made him give me my details in which then I believed it was a genuine phone call. Honestly I find it strange that they called me the day before to inform me of my appointment as I could have had other appointments planned.
Ultimately, my bad experience is mainly with the receptionist aspect. They didn’t seem very professional, communication was poor and the lady receptionist was recording something that was on her work computer screen onto her phone.
On the other hand, I suppose it’s a nice little job if anyone was to work as a receptionist in this health center as it seems very laid back.
As usual, reception are the problem… they seem to with hold basic facilities. On arrival I was told I need to give a sample of urine so was passed a narrow tube. As a woman, it’s difficult to aim into a tube, so I asked for some sort of cup. I was advised they don’t have anything. I then asked for gloves as I did not want to urinate on my hand. First I was told they don’t have any, then that they don’t usually give them. I insisted and said I don’t want to urinate on my hand and then reluctantly was passed a cup. Now was that so hard?!
They do not update their records as a responsibilities and create the struggle for the maternity ladies. Couple of times they sent the SMS for appointments and when you arrived there they said sorry. You Do not have appointment today
It is automatically message. Why They Did not updated the record once baby has delivered. I would specially recommend that they must train the staff on technology and apologies to patients .people are wasting their time and money and they are replying very proudly and do not change their staff or working pattern
careless service from the staff
I called them at 10 am this morning and still sat on the phone now no one answers the phone everytime I call them but they mak you look bad when you don't go to appointments but u try and call to change appointments and you can get through to any one and when I go to appointments I never see the phone ring for them to be busy absolutely ridiculous never no anything like it
Older Asian woman who wears glasses at reception extremely unhelpful. A woman and child who couldn't speak English properly approached the woman at reception asking for a taxi to be called, she literally kept fobbing them off towards the back, the little kid kept coming back to her for help but she kept saying the same thing. You can clearly see they are struggling why not just get up from your damn chair and help them out? In the end a member of the public went and helped them. And as for the black woman with short hair, glasses and mitie jacket, her presence there is irrelevant. She just sits there on her phone laughing at god knows what. She could've helped that mother and child, but she just stayed sitting there on her phone. My advice- re-train current staff and teach them to be more compassionate and helpfull!!!
Smelly environment and staff not bothered about the appointment timing. People whose appointments were after us been seen and forgotten to call us. It’s over 2hrs after appointment we are still waiting.
Awful customer service and midwives are not available
So when I call the surgery I get informed all appointments are booked and all call backs are only booked at 8am. You can only call at 8am, if anything happens after this time I was informed we send you to the closest walk-in centre. So clearly no point having these guys as your registered doctor when you can go to a walk-in centre! Ridiculous service, no regard for the communities needs. Got a hefty package from Aston Pride and a building to provide the worst service. I would love for someone from the management to give me reply.
So it took you a while to reply! Wow so you avoided how patients can't book appointments after 8am and get told go to your local walk in centre. I couldn't really digest your reply which was so full of.....BS. anyways answer queries that patients have even after 8am. I have videos and pictures of Newtown (Not the Aston Pride site) showing less than 1 patient attending and the site is completely empty, yes there's covid but your saying there are no appointments for us, how can that be? Surely things don't add up? To get a call back from a doctor is just another traumatic experience let's not even go there. Please for heavens sake train your staff to speak politely, "what you calling up for"...."no appointments today call back tomorrow bye". The duty manager doesn't even attend the phone, so you can't even escalate the issue or resolve it with someone superior.
Thank you Ray Docs keeps the great and efficient service down! I await your response.
Omg I have had the worst experience with this surgery. Receptionists are so rude. No one is helpful at all. My midwife doesn’t pick up her phone nor does she answer texts. It’s very frustrating when your pregnant. What’s the point of this surgery anyway or why are we allocated a midwife when we are pregnant if they are not helpful at all. ????
