We all had fish and chips, chocolate fudge cake and sticky toffee pudding which were absolutely delicious. Every mouthful we kept saying how tasty it all was. Friendly staff and stunning location. It's also a stones throw from a 24/7 book shed which we were very impressed with.
Nice location, excellent view friendly locals, friendly staff but very overworked, and understaffed.
Food was 2 hours from ordering to arrive wrong and / or burnt.
Basically nice but not for food.
A great warm welcome and a good substantial menu. Always busy so booking is essential. Did not stay here but ate here on a couple of evenings and it was great speaking with the locals and enjoying good quality home cooked food. It added to the holiday experience.
We stayed one night here and regretted it. The bar seating outside was lovely- except the ground was covered in animal turds. There are wild sheep roaming- but there is no excuse for not cleaning up regularly. The views are wonderful. We’d heard the food was good- and the scallops did look lovely but by the time we got ready for dinner (they stop serving at 2030) the specials were all gone and the menu is
Pretty restricted- average macaroni cheese, fish and chips or a burger. Not much fresh local food! The bar didn’t have much atmosphere. The stair and corridors were dated and smelt a little- but the room was ok- it was clean and whilst the shower looked like a retrofit it was warm and powerful. Breakfast was mediocre. The Aussie girl working there was lovely though and actually it was very cheap- about £120 for dinner, bed and breakfast including two drinks. Perhaps a place for a functional stop but I’d be disappointed if this was tbe focus of a much waited for holiday.
Visited the hotel for an evening meal which was fantastic. Pub grub and plenty of it. The icing on the cake was the view out over the sea loch with a cracking sunset. Friendly staff and locals. Well behaved dogs are also permitted within. Whats not to like. Go there you won't be disappointed.
We called in for food on a day trip to iona. It was great. The smoked haddock chowder soup was amazing. Great friendly service and very reasonably priced too.
I called asking if they would have a table for 2 available. I didn't have the time to specify the hour. The lady directly told me to come as soon as i can without telling us anything else.
We arrive at 8:10pm to be told that the kitchen closed at 8pm.
We haven't had a proper meal for the whole day so we asked if we could even buy something cold like a salad. The lady at the bar just smiled and said no. She seemed to find it funny. This was disrespectful and not professional.
On top of that we are still in the middle of a pandemic and she wasn't wearing a mask, just like some customers rooming around.
In any case after reading some of the other reviews, it seems that we better be fasting than eating there.
Huge room with a gorgeous view of the water, very old and quaint interior, exactly what I had been looking for. The food was filling and comforting and the staff were wonderful. Good place to relax for a pint in the evening as well. Only a five minute drive to the Iona ferry. Would love to stay there again.
