Classic style drive up with staff on skates. Food is good and there is even some limited bench seating if you do not want to eat in your vehicle.
Fun experience every kid should try before they are gone.
Super fun place, food was great and service was phenomenal! Highly suggest their homemade root beer, you know it’s good when you can buy it to-go in gallons. They come to your window offer a menu and put something under windshield to show that you’ve been helped, they tell you to put on your hazards when you’re ready. It is made to order so it does take a little while but you are allowed to order ahead for pick up if you’d like. Highly suggest this place even saw some people order and walk across the street to have a picnic at the lake such a good idea.
Very impressed. Hot beef and BBQ beef sandwiches are about as good as home cooked as you can get. The building and parking lot were clean and well maintained. The waitress was polite and timely. Will definitely be back.
So happy we made the side trip to stop here because the whole experience was great! The car hops expertly navigate the parking lot on roller skates to take orders and deliver food. If you’re eating in your car, you even get a tray that hangs on your window. This place isn’t a reproduction, but has been here for decades!
The food was awesome, but the root beer was better than any that I’ve had. Amazing place!
so much fun! car hops on roller skates! such a throw back! best root beer, treats, cheese curds and more! a must visit!
The only good thing I really have to say is our order was taken promptly and our food didn’t take long to get. I wasn’t able to get what I wanted because they were “out of that” when I ordered. So I went to a second option to get told they didn’t have everything to make that either. So I went to a double cheeseburger. I asked to the works on it. Which typically means ketchup, mustard, onion, and pickle. I got a ton of mustard and a little ketchup. I ordered it as a basket which says comes with a large drink. Which according to the website is 32 oz. I got a 20oz. The root beer was cool at best. Not bold and had zero carbonation to it at all. It’s not supposed to have much as it is but I may as well been drinking water and syrup. My girlfriend’s meal was ok. Just ok. I was definitely left with something to be desired after spending $35+ on lunch. It’s definitely not the same as it used to be.
They didn’t have chili cheese dogs when I went last week, but damn good Chicago dogs. Food isn’t worth the price I paid though; 2 Chicago dogs, cheese curds, and a drink ran me $20. I can get that for $10 back home.
Update 05/26/2023: I guess the Chicago dogs and cheese curds cost more, the chili dog and fries are out of this world. My order came to $15 for 2 dogs, fries, and a drink. Will definitely be back more often!
Been a long time customer. The ice cream is great as well as the root beer. Ordered the fish basket and fries and slaw were yummy. Rye bread was dried out and the fish clearly had not been drained after it left the fryer. Just dripping ( literally) with grease. And this was over $14? Dont think ill be visiting for a long time. Bummer. It used to be better,by far.
