I had my Mk7 Fiesta Zetec S in for a service & MOT initially before the engine gave way following a coolant pipe broke free…
This obviously turned a basic job into a major job…
The list of major parts that were replaced were as follows:
- Engine
- Clutch - the engine bought had the original clutch + 70,000 miles on the clock, so this made sense to do while the engine was being changed.
- Exhaust
The car bless her was in a bit of a state. I had bought her privately a few weeks before, and she was a lemon to be honest. Economically she should’ve been scrapped (especially after the engine blew). However, I’m massively against the scrappage of cars with potential to be restored to a good working capacity.
There were also lots of other minor repairs that took place where the previous owner had just neglected her or not repaired properly.
I must say, Paul and the crew took this challenge on and looked after her with the due care and attention she needed. They did a great job changing the engine over and fitting a new clutch + exhaust (which was blowing and would’ve struggled to pass an MOT.
Normally, I wouldn’t write reviews, but it’s little touches like pointing me in the direction of where to source a new exhaust for the car - went with a Hornet Exhaust which sounds A-M-A-Z-I-N-G - on top of refitting trim that had worked it’s way loose and re-painting little areas of the car where there was old rust on display.
Simply put, every car guy wants to have the know how to repair their own car + take care of it as if it were their own child.
If you’re unable to do this, taking it to AR automotive is the next best solution. The pride they take in their work is second to none.
My beautiful Fiesta is now back on the road, humming, popping and singing beautifully.
100% honest and efficient they did a fantastic job on my MK 4 Golf GTi for a very reasonable price Definitely recommend for absolutely any work you need doing to your car.

I came in looking for help with my CRV. They were really approachable and fitted me in before Christmas. They are helpful, honest and thorough. Delighted to have found a garage I'm confident to go back to.
Slow puncture, new runflat tyre needed. Next day drive-in fitted and balanced while you wait. Very efficient and reasonably priced.
Can’t thank the guys at AR for the work and effort they have done for me. I was unfortunate to experience the dreaded BMW swirl flap failure on my 1series F20 116d 2016. I was told by BMW and numerous garages that it was a simple case of replacing the whole inlet manifold (£1000) as it’s not a serviceable part. After doing a bit of research I found out that as this is such a common problem, there is a method of not only fixing the problem, but actually carrying out a procedure which makes the car run better which makes sure there are no problems in the future which is called ‘swirl flap delete’. Once I found this out I thought all my problems were solved, but trying to find a garage that would carry out this task was a task in itself because it was known to have been carried out on older models with no problems but because the ECU would need to be looked into on newer models (2012+) a lot of garages said they would not do it. Just by chance I called AR Automotive and they knew exactly what my issue was and were happy to assist me with not only that, but a few other issues I had which I already knew about. Got the car back today which has now got 85,000 miles on the clock and it drives better than the day I bought it when it had 18,000 miles on it. If you have a BMW I suggest you look into if your car has the swirl flap system, and if it does I strongly recommend you have this work carried out as it can potentially write your engine/car off, and if you need or want it done…get these guys to do it! ????????
