Excellent atmosphere, from the moment I opened the door and entered the place I could see that it is a very special place because it fuses the concept of an American Bar, with touches of a Mexican Cantina, then when I saw the menu, I could realize that it really has a lot of influence of a typical Mexican Cantina, that makes it a beautiful and excellent place. Good variety of Mezcales, the sale of Cantaritos is a pleasant surprise.
On the outside, it's a total dive bar.
But... On the inside they have one of the best selections of tequila I've ever seen, other than Mexico of course. Also, when the kitchen is going, it's some damn good food.
One of the bartenders (KB), is a spectacle to behold.
This place has a really nice atmosphere! Great service and food is good. They also have good music! Highly recommended!
Loved the place and the roasters outside. Drinks were good and cheap. Had a bloody mary there with tequila and was one of the best tasting ones I have had
After a great day, hiking Starved Rock & the surrounding area, we stumbled upon this hidden gem in Utica. And when I say gem, I mean an absolutely brilliant place. If you don't find yourself putting this place high on your list of things to do, then you will have missed out on one of the best places this town has to offer. The unassuming & understated exterior leads you to a magical place once inside the door. The owner Ben, mixologist Lilly & awesome bartender Kevin are friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The local patrons were equally inviting, and I instantly felt at home. From your run of the mill standard beers, to a thoughtful & well crafted cocktail list, to an impressive and extensive list of Agave spirits, this place has something for everyone. Slogan says "Tequila bar and sometimes Restaurant"....and its perfect. The agave selection is something that everyone can explore, don't hesitate to ask for recommendations. Whatever food they are cooking for the day, make certain you try it. Ben's extensive experience gained from many renowned restaurants in Chicago does not go unnoticed here. I walked in, not expecting anything more than a local hole in the wall pub, and walked out wishing this place was near my home & feeling like I made new friends. It's a tremendous find. Don't miss it!
Had the prime rib dinner on Thursday. Was absolutely delicious. The flavors were amazing! For a bar that doesn’t have a kitchen the owner uses an outdoor fire pit to make amazing food.
Everything is so fresh. Not your typical restaurant definitely a hidden gem. Don’t let the looks fool you. The food is amazing and the drinks are amazing as well!!!
Lily is by far the best bartender! Ben, the owner of the bar, always thinks of ways to spice up the menu and keep the bar such a fun place to come. Me and my friends come here at least once a week. Try the Paloma!! It’s AMAZING!!
What can I say other than this place is one of a kind...the VERY BEST kind!
Lily was exceptional (awesome drinks)! Food (Chorizo Smash Burger, the Cubano) was absolutely delicious.
It was an outstanding experience. We are not from the area and we are so glad we included a stop at Ano Del Gallo. Thanks for the memories!
