Best KPortal Reviews
I love tacos when the tortillas are freshly made. This spot was good. Our friends brought here, our drive is 45 minutes. It was worth the drive. Tortillas were delicious, the tacos are very hefty, they're not stingy with their meats at all, The only thing, as I read on other people's reviews here, it would be nice if we could serve the salsas our selves. And yes we felt rushed as well, but I guess the demand is high and there was a big line. I will definitely come back again.
Oh boy, I don't like doing negative reviews, but this one is important.
We went here on a Sunday night around 830pm. It was super busy, like so busy the line was down the block. We took this to be a good sign, thinking it meant 1) obviously the food is bomb - look at how many people are willing to wait for it, and 2) the food will be fresh. We do not mind waiting so long as it is worth the wait.
While in line, some guy came and cut the line in front of a young family. There were words exchanged, and the guy who cut the line ended up spitting on dad from the young family. Angel's Tijuana refused to serve the guy who cut the line and spat, so that was really good, but it just created an atmosphere of tension.
After about 30 minutes in the lineup, my husband went to order the food. We were super excited about the fresh tortillas being made, but we noticed there were not many options for condiments. Other taco stands offer grilled jalapeños and grilled onions and sauces that can be poured into separate cups.
Here, they were in such a rush that they were just throwing stuff onto the plates. The al pastor meat wasn't getting enough time between customers to cook properly. The chicken was precooked and served out of a pan. And the thing that ruined it for us was the sauce being poured on by the stand people. They absolutely doused our tacos in sauce. By the time my husband paid and we brought them to the car to eat (literally a 1 minute walk), all the tacos were soaked. Soggy to a point of disgust.
It was a waste of our money because we ended up throwing more than half our food out.
Will not be going back.
Not worth the wait, not worth it the trip at all.
This place has the potential, if they just focus on QUALITY rather than QUANTITY.
It was on the news that this taco stand may be part of a large company that operates in some cities in Southern California. This company seems to be taking advantage of the flexibility from the state to allow small street vendors. Another taco shop with a very similar name and that seems to be part of the same company was already removed from the streets in Anaheim, CA.
Also, this business has NO regard for our community at all. How is this allowed? The sidewalk looks worst than one from a third world county. They should at least try to follow some of the regulations from the Los Angeles County Health Department, Sanitation, Bureau of Street Services, Public Works, ADA requirements, etc… Even the most basic requirements from any applicable department are ignored here. They seems to dump oil and ashes and/or charcoal onto the street. Take a look at the shrubs/landscape along the sidewalk. All the plans look black and burnt.
Hands down the BEST al pastor in LA!!!! Don't be deterred by the long lines, they move quickly and the tacos are huge! I have a healthy appetite and 3 tacos fills me up. I've only had the pastor tacos and have no inclination to try anything else. $2.50 a taco ????????????????
On the corner of Haskell and sherman way in van nuys this taco stand serves up the absolute best tacos , burritos and an amazing take on a loaded bake potato . The staff are friendly and the portions are big. And in my bias opinion the best taco spot around . Be prepared, the line tends to wrap around the corner and can take a while to get through , but the Waite is well worth it.
As a valley resident for decades, this taco stand is just as good as Taco Bell across the street. Food is pricey for the average. But what’s really bad is the service, they serve you however they feel like it at the moment. Save your saliva on giving your order because they’ll give you what they want anyways. On top of that, when you try to correct them for your OWN order that YOU’RE PAYING FOR, they get mad and offended. Super bad attitudes and treat clients bad. I had an old lady right behind me in line who they even treated bad, luckily enough she spoke Spanish to defend herself. Non-Latino or Spanish speakers and everybody really, avoid this place not worth the wait nor their attitudes.
Oh and old salsa sitting in the back table all day and refuse to give to customers, don’t ask for salsa, they’re not for sell either.
An explosion of flavors in your mouth. That is the best way to describe the food at Angel's. Amazing , fresh, well made Al Pastor and a very unique way of making quesadillas. Sauces and condiments a plenty.
The long line was a testament on its own to the food being served.
Their name was on our options for our Friday street Taco hunt and so glad we stopped here.
We got there way before they even opened and there was already a line starting - that's because it's that good. The food is amazing and the portions are huge. It's way more affordable then any fast food options around. We are from WA state and frequently go to LA for business and this is the one stop we must do every time. Try the angel baked potato and be prepared to share it with a friend - it's that big.
