This place is a must-visit in Myrtle Beach! The seating process is quick, the staff is exceptionally friendly, and the food is outstanding! I attended the late dinner buffet and was thoroughly impressed. The buffet offers a diverse selection, including spaghetti, hot sausage, meatballs, tortellini Alfredo, steak & potatoes, and more, all plated for you. Additionally, their chef's specialty is remarkable. The buffet is very reasonably priced at approximately $18.99, considering the quality of the food. You also get a complimentary salad & amazing garlic bread!! The key-lime pie is to die for as well! With a bar and ample seating areas, it's a 5/5 buffet experience!
Angelo's has always been a great experience and last night wasn't very different. Rhetha provided great service to our party of 8 (with a baby).
The ONLY negative thing I can offer is that, for some reason, the garlic mashed potatoes were extremely Salty. So much so that I asked for a docent side as soon as I had the first bite. The green beans that replaced them were very good, so it worked out just fine! The steak which I requested med rare was cooked just right! WIN!
Angelo's has been such a long standing staple in the Myrtle Beach area and I have enjoyed every visit over the last MANY years...
If you've not been, it's wish a visit, at least in my opinion!
BEWARE-This place will charge you a 20% tip to your overall order and not say anything! Yesterday evening, my family and I went to this place as it was suggested on their website that there's an early bird special for the Italian Buffet. For $13.95 I initially thought that was a good deal; that was until after I received my first plate. We got there and were seated immediately. We walked thru what would appear to be a 'maze' as you go from one hall to another and to the dining room. The hallway had photos of what I would assume to be the 'family.' Family photos do not belong in a restaurant and rather, offered a tacky dining experience. The dinning room had old musty carpet and the interior resembled a dark and outdated atmosphere. However, the waitress was nice and pleasant but unfortunately, that doesn't take away from the end result of this business. Once seated, I could not figure out where the buffet was located. Turns out, it was a distance away from the dining room and for those such as my elderly mother who was with us, would have difficulties in going from one room to a hallway that contained partitions. The partitions was used in directing one to the buffet. Speaking of the buffet, you could not serve yourself but instead spoke to the server over a window. The buffet was mediocre at best and contained a large abundance of tomato sauce that had no flavor, nor did any of the meats. In all my years of both working in a restaurant as well as eating, I have never seen anything like this in my life! We paid the bill but it wasn't until an hour or so down the road did my wife look over the receipt and became angerly excited-we paid a tip on top of the 20% tip! There's plenty of other places that are in the Myrtle Beach area that won't deceive you-just BEWARE of this place!
UPDATE: 1/30/2024
So I sent a complaint to the BBB and they did close out my complaint, but my complaint was about the tip and lack of signs.
This is what the business said: "...These signs are posted on the entry door, exit door, and also the hostess stand. Also, the check was paid by a credit card and the tip line reads additional tip. The servers are also trained to tell each table when the tip is added. We add gratuity to any table five or more or any table with a discount..." Is this person on crack?! What kind of BS is s/he spewing?! We were never told! Anyway, I'm listing this in every single review I can find on-line. This place SUCKS!
We went for our anniversary. The magicician was entertaining. The service was good. Buffet was nice- they serve you. I wish it had soup on it. My husband had the very large rib eye steak. He loved it, but every piece I snook had fat.. but the fat was flavorful. He had leftovers, so that's impressive for the size for sure. He would get it again.
I had dinner there with my family. We used the Autism Travel Club app and was seated in a quiet area of the restaurant. Staff members were very accommodating and attentive. Food was excellent. My son hasn’t been to many restaurants but this one was clearly his favorite.
I would HIGHLY not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I would not bring my wife to this place . The place atmosphere is dated. Please consider the reviews and my message here. There a lot great choices in Myrtle Beach, SC to get a dinner. The owner and chef lack of consideration for people health with serving pork on a salad . The world has change on creating salads and foods without fats that are delicious. The fish tank in the Foyer of the restaurant makes the place have a distinct smell. My experience: 30 years plus restaurant experience and presidential food service. Food educator .
April 26, 2024, my family of just 4 including me dine at the restaurant for the first time. We are locals.
We used a coupon book with discount they sell for fundraisers for the schools in the area.
I used a coupon to only be upsell by the waitress by 20% tip. I have over 30 years experience in the restaurant industry. From fine dining to presidential dining. I went on a recommended from a friend to check the restaurant out plus we like to check out new restaurants in the coupon book.
Food Quality was BA - below average.
Hard Rolls , Salad is drench in dressing and pork - ham. Why put ham on a salad that is complementary? This is unsatisfying to anyone that really just wants a salad or does not eat pork.
My steak was cook right. My son steak was supposed to be medium rare. It was more like blue rare. I asked the waitress to recook the steak. She told me she could bring a hot plate for us to cook it. Definitely not! She was not happy. I sent the steak back to be reheated to right degree. I Understand that the staff is not happen when they have to recook an item. The steak was 8 oz , I sent the steak back at least 6 oz . This should never been an issue. Why would I cook my own steak if I come to a steak house? I am not working there .
My green beans were salted . A lot salt for veggies. A lot butter is used and salt for veggies.
Recommend using natural flavors from chicken or beef stock.
Line cooks behind the buffet should be wearing gloves and hair protection for serving according to HACCP for guidelines on servings. The food to me was not hot. I did not have a thermometer on me but I should request one. Danger zone is critical for hot food and cold food.
Server take off your straw paper wrapper and leave it on the end of straw. So a server that not wearing gloves put the hands on the uncover straw and put it your drinks. Why? That not sanitary. Hand washing station are not in view at waiter station. We still need to wash hands when you change tasks when serving food.
I would recommend the restaurant not to be in the coupon book if they are going to up charge you for 2 kids and 2 adults. Why purchase a coupon book to check out new restaurants to only be up charge on the real total. I usually pay more than 20% for good service and food. The buffet for full of tomatoes based products. Unsatisfactory. Recommend using olive oil as alternative for pasta items. Cooking vegetables progressively on the buffet. Fresh item and healthier options. There are lot ways to update a buffet. Cruise ship and casino have buffet that offer many options to the patrons. Recommend going to check out new menu and method for cooking different dishes that are not all tomato base.
The restaurant is outdated with the decoration.
I would want to have my beverage full when eating my meal plus my son would appreciate the proper utensils - steak knives and fork to eat his meal.
Mozzarella sticks are cooked in dirty oil . The sauce was small for the amount of mozzarella stick you are given. The stick seems to be burned or cooked in dirty oil.
Please change the oil in the fryer or stop burning the stick.
paid the bill. I asked the waitress about the bill and her response on the amount of the tip did not add up on the actions of the service or restaurant.
Actions speak louder than words. Not having drinks and having to task the waitress for items is unacceptable. Poor food and service is unacceptable.
Angelo’s is a must-visit for our family when in the area. The steaks are always perfectly cooked and seasoned on a sizzling platter (I order one level less-done since it keeps cooking at the table). Our server, Paul, had multiple large tables but kept us well-attended. The escargot (in garlic butter without the shell) is fabulous and the creamy Marsala sauce is delicious with steaks. The salad is large and tastes great with the house dressing. The staff was friendly and there was plenty of seating. The early-bird filet was priced great. Only reason I did not give 4 stars is the increased prices with less food issue here like most other restaurants now. The appetizers and sides are smaller but price has increased. Prices are quite expensive on the regular menu but the food quality is worth it for occasional visits.
I’ve drove past this place probably 100 times over the years vacationing. We were looking for a good Italian restaurant and we were looking more up towards the boardwalk. Several food sites listed this place in the top 5 so we decided to give it a try. We both really enjoyed the buffet. From the meatballs and Italian sausage to the stuff shells and lasagna. Everything we had was really good. Staff were all friendly and polite. Glad we went!
