We heard about this local Aurora, Illinois gem most recently and decided to give them a try for our dinner tonight. We are so very glad that we dined there! The location and free parking are a bonus as you pull up onto New York Street directly across from Ballydoyle’s.
The smartly decorated bar and dining area give you a feel of being in a quaint Italian restaurant. Our waitress quickly seated us and my wife enjoyed a signature martini and I enjoyed an iced tea. For an appetizer we decided on Bruschetta which was a very tasty delight and we highly recommend it. We both ordered the Risotto Scaloppini and enjoyed each bite. We topped off our meal with four small scoops of gelato and left full and content. Our waitress offered us a tour of the lower level piano bar, named Red Room for the warm and inviting decor and ambiance. What a fun place! We can’t wait to get back and share our new found experience with friends and family. Loved the people and loved the delectable food. Giving the customer service and food 5 stars.
Very nice looking place. Bright and contemporary decor in an older building. The hostess and servers were welcoming and friendly. The tables are too small for dinner tables. The two-top would be fine for cocktails, but not for a meal. Some of the seats are built-in benches, which look good but aren't comfortable because they don't have cushions or backs. As one course is cleared away, your utensils are left behind, and there's nothing to put them on, so they sit on the table until the next course arrives. This makes the table messy and also seems unsanitary to me. It would be better to provide new utensils with each course. The candles on the tables are battery-operated, which just seems odd. The food was good, but not great, particularly for the price. Also, quite salty, which doesn't bother me, but may be a bit much for some. The courses were nicely paced. Overall, we enjoyed our meal, but with so many other places to try, it probably won't be a repeat for now.
I understand this restaurant is new & that is why I gave it a 4. Aurora needs a place like this. The service was awful & saw her standing around a lot. However, once we got the manager involved- the service from others was excellent. We never got our drinks. An hour & 1/2 on a non busy night isn't great.
The food on the other hand was outstanding! The steak was tender & incredible flavor! The mashed potatoes were so good. The tiramisu was extremely good! If they can work on this service- it would be great!
The piano bar was awesome downstairs! Incredible music & atmosphere!
Me and my husband went on a date here recently- The food was so delicious, the service was wonderful and the music downstairs was amazing. So happy this is downtown Aurora now ❤️❤️ we will be going back!
If you can reserve ahead of time do so for the best service! All the staff is so lovely and the place is so beautiful ????
The drinks were perfect- we had the basil limoncello martini and the Aperitivo spritz!
For appetizer we had calamari- it was so fresh. We also had a couple of pizzas (Amore mio pizza, and the prosciutto and arugula pizza) the crust was the best I've had in years. And the lava cake for dessert was perfect!
Came in as a six top on a Friday night at 6:30, my girl friend and I came in a bit early and had a drink at the bar while we waited for the rest of our party. We were seated promptly and ordered quickly because we were going to a show at the Paramount down the street. 5 of us enjoyed our meals immensely but one person had a fillet that was overcooked. I also had the fillet and mine was cooked perfectly but it seemed that the other fillet wasn’t as thick and thus had cooked faster. Not a huge deal as the waitstaff was very accommodating!
I’ve read that this is a relatively new place and we all loved the atmosphere and decor! There are always some kinks to work out in any new restaurant and I feel confident that the team at Amore Mio will make the necessary adjustments and become a staple in the downtown Aurora food scene!
Again I want to shout out my server, she was amazing and I’m very annoyed that I can’t remember her name (but she’ll know who she is when she reads this).
Best of luck you guys :)
Came by and had a nice meal because we were downtown anyways and wanted to check it out. The food was quite good, and reasonably priced. The ambience where we were was well thought out, but felt like there were some things missing to make it seem like its own place. Maybe some artwork or pictures would do well.
Also wandered down into the piano bar downstairs ("The Red Room") and caught some music. It was quite dark, but the service was quick and the music fun to listen to while we had one last round.
Had high hopes, but was left disappointed. Went here for my 25 yr anniversary with my husband, which was noted in my reservation along with a table request.... Well, we were sat at a high top right next to the bathroom, not very romantic or private for such a special occasion.
Food was ok. Pasta and salmon were both overcooked and the salmon portion was the smallest I've ever encountered at a restaurant.
The restaurant was beautiful! Loved the decorations and all the roses.
The Red Room downstairs was beautiful, private and the bartender was very attentive and accommodating.
Would come back for a drink downstairs anytime!!!
My husband and I enjoyed dinner at Amore Mio before heading to the Paramount for a show. The food was excellent. We split the calamari, mussels and Amore Mio salad and I enjoyed all of them. After dinner, we went down to the piano bar and enjoyed a cocktail and some live jazz. This is a much appreciated new date night spot in downtown Aurora!
